  1. Seriously? Wanda in Australia? They haven't even built a world-class theme park in China yet.

Wanda Group is eyeing another theme park project, this time outside of China, on Australia's Gold Coast:

Wang Jianlin’s Chinese conglomerate, the Wanda Group, is negotiating with the State Government to obtain land at Coomera to build the multi-billion-dollar attraction.
Although this is still under negotiation, it may not be very far off.

  3. Ex-Disney executive Noble Coker has left Wanda, the latest departure of a first-rate employee with international expertise. Not a good omen for the theme park department's future. Now there is little hope we'll ever get to see a quality theme park made by Wanda.

(1/16/14) Back in November it was announced at IAAPA that Great Coasters International would build “The Viper”, their biggest wooded roller coaster ever at the Wanda (Nanchang) Culture Tourism City to open in 2015. (Stats: 50 meter (164 ft) tall lift hill and 1,500 meters (4921 ft) of track).

Earlier this month it was reported that the Wanda Group had purchased a new B&M Flyer Coaster for Xishuangbanna International Resort project.

Today I found an interesting bit of news on the Dynamic Attractions website that confirms that they are now in the midsts of building Dynamic’s very first “Generation II Flying Theaters” attraction for Wanda as well.

  6. These "theme parks" are going to be terrible!

  7. When reading this I don't develop good feelings about these Wanda theme parks. They suffer from delusions of grandeur and have no theme park experience.

  8. Wanda billionaire chairman Wang Jianlin:

Great article published on the Hollywood Reporter:
    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/chinas-wanda-plans-theme-park-636431

Days after announcing the world's largest movie studio development, company chairman Wang Jianlin touts another project, saying it "will surpass Disney in both revenue and number of visitors."
The project, dubbed Wuxi Wanda City, will span 296 acres around a small lake. It will include an outdoor amusement park, a “film city” with 3D cinemas, an indoor children’s theme park, an “extreme sports hall,” seven resort hotels, a commercial center with over 200 retail shops, and a “bar street” of at least 20 venues.

“Wuxi Wanda City will have richer content than Disney,” Wang was quoted as saying. "[We] expect to attract 20 million tourists a year. Wanda has confidence that [our tourism project] will surpass Disney in both revenue and number of visitors.”
Wanda says Wuxi Wanda City will be up and running by 2016.
