Water Park Design: Cirque du Soleil Concept Art by Legacy Entertainment

In earlier iterations of the project wherein the main component of Phase 1 was to be a Water Park, Legacy Entertainment collaborated with Cirque du Soleil and WhiteWater to develop a groundbreaking water park filled with brand new attractions, as well as new takes on old classics. One area of the park was inspired by Disney's shuttered 'River Country' water park, and would have featured a variety of participatory activities, including rope climbs, zip lines, rope & trapeze swings, along with a few waterslides integrated into the elaborate rockwork berm.

Cirque du Soleil Design: Mexico Theme Park Design Concept Art by Legacy Entertainment

In early development phases, Cirque Du Soleil created a unique water park concept with several first-of-their-kind attractions. One such attraction was the 'Net Drop'. Grabbing onto large lets, guests would have been hoisted in the air, free to let go at any time, and in any manner they wished. The 'bubble' aeration system from 'O' would have been implemented here to soften the impact of riders landing on the water. At night, the attraction would have been used as a performance stage for a small-scale Cirque du Soleil show. Wiegand GmbH & CoKG collaborated with Cirque du Soleil and Legacy Entertainment on the engineering of this unique water park attraction.

The first ride for Vidanta World, a 40 meter tall Parachute Tower by Intamin, is being imported this week. According to import records, the ride originated of course in Liechtenstein, then was transferred to Germany, then to Texas and now to its final destination in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico.

Cirque du Soleil Design: Mexico Water Park Design Concept Art by Legacy Entertainment

In early iterations of the project (circa 2015), when the entire project carried the Cirque du Soleil banner, the main Phase 1 anchor was an elaborately-themed Water Park. Inspired by immersive theater trends, the entire park would have been populated by Cirque du Soleil characters created for this project, with different tribes including The Oracles, The Healers, The Builders, and The Fishers inhabiting different sections of the park. Those familiar with Cirque du Soleil will notice subtle nods to its flagship production, "O".
