New article and photos just came out about the preparations being made ahead of the opening:

The article says that the first opening phase, which is currently ongoing, is internal pressure test in which Universal Beijing Resort team members are invited to participate in various scenarios (including going on rides, eating, watching shows, etc.) to improve the operations and in turn the guest experience. The second opening phase will be trial operations for invited partners and invited guests. The third opening phase will be the grand opening.

More than 10,000 team members have already begun training and have participated in the internal stress tests.

More than one thousand cast and crew members have been conducting intensive rehearsals seven days a week since February, striving to provide tourists with high-quality and immersive entertainment performances by the grand opening.
Universal Beijing Resort reminds us that at present, Universal Beijing Resort has not released ticket information and opening date, and has not sold any tickets to the public. The information on ticket prices in the market is speculation.

Well…….where are they?
So ignorant of how much these things cost!

6 billion dollars includes but not limited to:

Design and Research for the park. This can take hundreds of staff to design, research, master plan etc.
Building the attractions themselves, transportation & tax for importation
Infrastructure of the park including power adjust, AC / Heating underground
    Hotels
    CityWalk
    Moving an entire river
    Land clearance
Hundreds of thousands of staff over the year from Universal, Contractor and, Sub-Contractors etc
    Building the park itself
Thousands of operations, technical staff and support staff to test and train inside the park
    Life Safety people
Accommodation for construction and Universal staff

The list can go on and on and all of a sudden 6 billion to go from soil to a fully operational park is not bad!
