Soft opening (also known as a technical rehearsal) is a bit like a dress rehearsal where the park is open to guests (normally a discounted ticket price) but with no guarantee of ride availability. This gives the park a good opportunity to test and adjust things ahead of the official opening and grand opening. Rides will often do this, too - for example Universal's Velocicoaster first opened to annual pass holders, then ran almost as normal ahead of the official opening date in June.

One of the most senior designers at UBR told me that the first 'soft open' day is set for July 21 with the official opening likely to be around August 23. It's still quite a way off.
