Leaked Photos Show Interior of Resistance Transport Ship for Rise of the Resistance Attraction

This ship will play a critical role in the Rise of the Resistance attraction, taking guests from Batuu up to space before they’re captured by the First Order in a Star Destroyer.

The I-TS will function much like the elevator shafts at the Escape from Gringotts attraction or even a bit like the stretching room in the Haunted Mansion in that it will drive the story forward without much motion. The ship will, reportedly, turn 180-degrees to allow the load and unload areas to take place through the same door. By putting the I-TS on a turntable, Disney can load guests at the 6-o’clock position and unload guests at the 12-o’clock position, starting in the cave systems of Batuu and ending up in the Star Destroyer.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will offer a two-night itinerary where all guests arrive and depart together, similar to Disney Cruise Line. Unlike any typical cruise, though, you can become the heroes of your own Star Wars story in a new type of immersive experience that only Disney could create.

Every window in the Halcyon – including those in each cabin – has a view of the galaxy beyond, with ever-changing vistas as the ship progresses from place to place.

The big twist here is that despite opening Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge a few months later, Walt Disney World’s version of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will actually open first, right as Christmas season kicks into high gear on December 5, 2019.

By contrast, the official grand opening of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland has slipped into next year, with an opening date of January 17, 2020. Obviously, this is an interesting turn of events for the two Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge projects…
