This new article (in Chinese) mentions Tianjin once again as the location for the Mainland Universal Studios Park. Tianjin can be reached on a one hour high-speed train ride from Beijing.

Execs from China were/still are in Orlando this week looking at Universal and Sea World properties.
It would be strange if these pictures – taken in June 2014 on the proposed Universal Studios site – weren't depicting preparation for the park. The area of demolition is way too large for an ordinary property development or a mall:
