    Chat is open!

I just spent about 15-20 minutes chatting to one of the "cast members" at Shanghai Disney Resort via the online chat facility.

Excited, I signed onto it at 7am CST (the billed opening time) but it actually didn't open then. However, it finally opened just after 8am CST.

The first person I got connected to only spoke Mandarin, but quickly put me through to an English speaker. The agents do not reply quickly...they are "typing..." for ages at a time.

Basically at the moment the agents do not have any further information than what is on the website. It seems their primary role is just to tell you about how great Shanghai Disney Resort is based on publicly-available information, and if you ask any more complex questions then they will just tell you to keep checking the website for more updates.

I asked all the relevant questions like "when will booking open", "what date can you check in to the hotels from", "what are the prices", "what time of day do you open on June 16", etc. But they just gave me stock answers each time without providing any information that's not publicly known.

I guess they have launched the chat facility today just to give their staff some training dealing with the public, rather than because they have any actual services to provide at this point......

Additionally, the chat function now displays a different error message. Previously it just showed a kind of "coming soon" message with no specific details. But now it displays a message which gives specific opening hours:

    "Sorry We Missed You

Our apologies, but chat conversation is currently unavailable. Shanghai Disney Resort Cast Members are here to assist daily between 7:00 to 20:00 CST.

Please come back then to chat with us."

Hey guys! I just found that the phone numbers of Shanghai Disney Resort are now available on the website! I checked this page only yesterday and the phone numbers weren't available then, so they must have only just been put up.

It's called "Disney Reservation Center". The numbers are:

    400-1800000 (inside China)
    +86-21-3158-0000 (outside China)

When I called it, I got a recorded message, which comes first in Mandarin and then in English. (This is hardly surprising, as I called after midnight in CST.) It says:

"Welcome to Shanghai Disney Resort Reservation Center. Sorry, we are unable to answer your call during non-service hours. Visit our website WWW.SHANGHAIDISNEYRESORT.COM. We are open every day, including public holidays, from 8am until 9pm. Please call again during these hours. Thank you."

This is exciting! I will definitely be trying to call again tomorrow.

Someone previously posted to this thread on 15-Dec-2015 that they heard from a "very reliable source" that the booking would open at the end of February. That's the latest information I have.

Anyone an idea if all the buildings near the entrance or for example next to the toy story hotel will be removed before opening, they are so close and i think otherwise would be seen from your hotel room or if you walk towards the entrance
Disneyandmore think they will not be moved if you read the article posted below.

It would seem unlikely that they will be 100% complete by the time of opening so I would think many of the construction works buildings will be in place for a little longer until the park is fully completed. We may, however, be surprised as the construction work is really moving along and may be completed but I would expect to see some remains of those types of buildings for a little while after official opening day.

I would think they will remove as much as they can (especially the really obvious ones) so as not to spoil guest experience but in all reality until they are done with construction and testing they will need those buildings to work from.

Disneyandmore have uploaded some great photos this week of the construction work still ongoing on the park. I cannot get enough of these new castle shots.

A closer view over the TRON Lightcycles Power Run dome, showing a structure still in construction between the dome and the show building. Yes, it's still a big mess down there and pathways pavement still has to be done, but it should be fine in five months.

Below is the entrance with trees lined along the entrance way showing the location of what, I assume, will be ticketing booths with the main entrance behind and the view out over the castle much like the traditional Disneyland layout. It's going to be a beautiful vista once it's finished.

I also noticed that Disneytown currently only has two shops and a theatre. Surely it will have more than that on opening day. So I think the "map" shown on the website is not yet complete.

If you compare the official site with all its mentioned attractions, restaurants and shops, I noticed that the following shops and restaurants are missing despite being previously announced or mentioned:

    In Mickey Avenue:
Silly Symphony Music Store - Shop
Ludwig Von Drake's Fireworks Factory - Shop
    Practical Pig Hardware - Shop
The Clip Joint Barber Shop - Shop
    Goofy About Toys - Shop
    Appliance Store - Shop
    Club 33 - Restaurant
    Gardens Of Imagination:
    Melody Time Gifts - Shop
    Adventure Isle:
    Adventure Supplies - Shop
    Fantasyland:
    Castle Gifts - Shop
    Corner Market - Restaurant

I think some of the venues are just not mentioned for now on the official website, especially all the shops on Mickey Avenue and the restaurant inside the Carthay Circle.

Anyone some ideas or informations about that?
