I have found something interesting that Shanghai Shendi Group (the Walt Disney Company's partner in Shanghai Disney Resort project) is the controlling shareholder of Shanghai Wild Animal Park.

  4. Shanghai Disney Resort could think about it in the far future when they use up all lands on their property and still want to add another park without costing too much. They could manage the wild animal park and license Disney's IP to the park. The original owner could invest the park for rebuilding. I think it would cost much more expensive and difficult to get new lands around the existing Shanghai Disney Resort. The lands around the resort property have been already planned for future non-Disney development project. If the rumored metro line extension become true in the future, it would be more convenient and shorten the time traveling between the resort and the wild animal park. It would be perfect if the metro line operate an non-stop express train between them. The express train could be themed to "Disney Express Line".

  5. Is it possible in the far future for Shanghai Disney Resort to cooperate with Shanghai Wild Animal Park to remake a Shanghai version of Disney's Animal Kingdom? If it is possible, Shanghai Disney Resort can have 3 or 4 theme parks (2 or 3 parks in the planned Shanghai Disney Resort area plus Animal Kingdom remade from Shanghai Wild Animal Park).

The Shanghai Wild Animal Park (158 hectares/378 acres) is one of two government-funded zoos in the city of Shanghai which has its own version of "Kilimanjaro Safaris". The park is only 30 minutes driving from Shanghai Disney Resort. In addition, there is a metro line station (Metro Line 16) on the side of the park. There is also another rumored metro line extension connecting Shanghai Disney Resort and Shanghai Wild Animal Park. This park is quiet old now and need some renovations. I think it will cost less if Shanghai Disney Resort can remake a Shanghai version of Disney's Animal Kingdom based on the existing Shanghai Wild Animal Park.

The Shanghai Haichang Polar Ocean Park (expected to open in the end of 2017) is also nearby Shanghai Metro Line 16's current terminal station, Dishui Lake. This park's parent company is Haichang Ocean Park Holdings Ltd., which is also Hong Kong Ocean Park's parent company.

  6. The 2016 Spring Festival is on Feb. 8, 2016 so they will announce the ticket information this week.

I only hope they offer some good package. I need a 3 nights stay and 4 day ticket combination for the end of August, or at least I hope. On the Hong Kong page I saw that they only offer two day tickets -- I hope for Shanghai they have more day options available. I would like to stay in Disneyland Hotel, if not too expensive. But i have the feeling I'll end up in Toy Story Hotel, which is also great.

Good post - you are right. There are two buildings across the street, only one of them showing up on the official map.

I want the ticket details and bookings to open soon. What a long wait but they should announce before the spring festival. When do you think will we see them showing up?

Here's another segment of the 15-Nov-2015 satellite image, showing both sides of the road as in InternationalObserver's image:

Yes, I'm now even more convinced that the building MarcoDisney was talking about is actually on the east side of the road and is not the same building shown on the Disney maps. This is based on the "split pyramid" being apparently visible on the satellite image, the west/east side of the road discrepancy, and other discrepancies between the map and renderings.

Given this context, the image posted by CarlySX on Friday shows it even more clearly:

This earlier Google image may offer some explanations. The large building to the east of the road is intended for private/public use. It is not Disney. The image show the 10 floor building well under construction. The image shows the commencement of a major daiphragm wall system used often in underground parking structures . You can also see two passages connecting the parking and the building. These could be pedestrian or vehicular passages.
Above the parking there is probably a type of development with services, some low rises office and cafes. The transport hub buildings are just to the west and looks like some covered structures there in recent photos. All supposition in any case.
