Ground breaking on the theme park, estimated to cost nearly $4 billion in the start-up phase alone, is scheduled to begin in June.
    In June, finally!

Walt Disney chairman-CEO Robert Iger Wednesday unveiled the first images of a model of the Shanghai Disney Resort featuring the Shanghai Disneyland park that will likely become a hallmark of his tenure at the company.
“With Shanghai Disneyland, we’re creating a one-of-a-kind destination that is authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese. We believe this will be one of the most spectacular Disney experiences yet and an important part of our future,” Iger said. The gates will open at the end of 2015.

The image illustrates a portion of the model, an 11-acre green space at the center of the park and a closer look at the design and scale of Enchanted Storybook Castle, its central attraction.

  4. Regular fireworks displays at the planned Disney resort in Pudong New Area will increase the air pollution in the area, though not enough to affect the health of nearby residents, a local expert said Sunday.

Shanghai Disneyland, which is expected to open by the end of 2015, sparked complaints about air pollution after it spent several days shooting off fireworks in Chuansha, where construction of the resort is currently underway.

Residents worried that the fireworks would pollute the air in the area, exacerbating the city's already troubling air pollution problems, according to a report in the Shanghai Morning Post Saturday.

A Disneyland representative said that it shot off the fireworks to collect technical data so it could prepare to put on future fireworks displays at the resort, the report said.

    What does this say?
    1) The Disney guys are already on location testing fireworks!
    2) China is concerned about air pollution caused by Disneyland?!? You can ALREADY hardly ever see the sky when you live in Shanghai!

CONSTRUCTION is almost done on the infrastructure and support facilities for Shanghai Disneyland, and design details and installation of features within the theme park will begin this year, officials said yesterday.

Some major structures will take shape late this year in the theme park, which will open in 2015 as scheduled in Chuansha in the Pudong New Area, said Zhou Xianqiang, assistant director of the Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone Management Commission.
After the rest of the construction is done on lands, roads and rivers this year, the commission will deliver the land to Disney officials in the United States for further construction, he said.

Zhou said the future theme park will be surrounded by a waterway to isolate the new park from the outside.

Shanghai Disneyland will involve more Chinese elements to differentiate it from other theme parks around the world, said Dao Shuming, director of the Shanghai Tourism Bureau. Zhou said the Chinese elements will mainly involve performances, festival celebrations and souvenirs.
He said detailed plans on future designs and events in the park will be made public late this year.

  7. The question is whether this 'production center' will be accessible to the public.

Screamscape just posted a patent for an innovative Monster Inc dark ride design that will supposedly go to Shanghai Disneyland:

Shanghai Disneyland on-site preview in 2nd quarter 2013?

Shanghai Disneyland will feature a production center, which will showcase some of the technical and creative wizardry, which will be used at the site, the company said on Friday.

The first of its type in Asia, and scheduled to be open by the second quarter of 2013, the center will become the "heart" of show production for Shanghai Disneyland, the company said, highlighting the park's most complex technology before it is permanently installed within the theme park, the company said.

The 3.9-sq-km Shanghai Disney resort will be the world's sixth Disney amusement park and the first one on the Chinese mainland.

Total investment is expected to hit 24.5 billion yuan ($3.84 billion) on the park and 4.5 billion yuan on hotels and accompanying retail, dining and entertainment facilities.

    Thanks.

Well I put them there according to their shapes and they do perfectly match with the layout of the whole resort map.
So I am 95% sure about their locations.
