How can Spiderman, thematically fit, in-between Pirates and Zootopia, accessed via Seven Dwarfs? I'd expect this in a Studios Park, not a Castle Park.

Construction has commenced on a Spider-Man-themed land at Shanghai Disney Resort! 🕸️🪏✨
The milestone was celebrated with a groundbreaking ceremony joined by leaders from Shanghai Disney Resort, Walt Disney Imagineering Shanghai, Shanghai Shendi Group, and the Administrative Commission of Shanghai International Resort.

Thank you so much for such high quality images! It seems the future Siderman Coaster is the last piece of the current park,leaving no space for any expansion after its completion.

I really hope they cancel the Spider-Man plan, the location for marvel theme is inappropriate at all.

The park is likely to be an EPCOT world's fair style park based on previous information. I'll share this quote from Bob Weis former creative director. “The team presented a highly creative new kind of park, with elements of nature, culture, the arts, and an overall deeply immersive environment that suggested a new-generation version of EPCOT. Many viewers who witnessed the presentation gave it a standing ovation.”

The park was originally slated to be an EPCOT style park in initial resort plans with the lower left hand side area being planned for an Animal Kingdom style third gate.

I would expect to see a lake centre piece feature for this park instead of a spoke and hub style. Think DisneySea or EPCOT with a nighttime show. Expect world of Frozen to be featured as well as immersive countries/environments designed to cater to a Chinese audience. I wouldn't be surprised to see Marvel featured as well as original experiences.

Plans could be ever evolving. I wouldn't expect this park to open earlier than 2030. Exciting!

Anyone know when the construction could begin? Some people say the official announcement probably will be as soon as Shanghai Disney’s 10th anniversary, or soon after the opening of the Spider-Man coaster (around 2027-2028). They say the second gate is scheduled to open before 2035 according to the government’s plan. It seems SDL’s financial performance is relatively above the initial expectations, so there is a willingness on both sides to speed up the 2nd phase project? Anyone know what the theme will be? Nature? Animal? Futuristic and super exciting or something else?
