    Still able to book

    Despite what news articles are reporting, tickets are still available for Shanghai Disneyland, even on opening day!

  3. Thanks!

    Presumably I won't be able to get wi-fi at the park gates so I will opt for the good old fashioned printing option.

    Tickets for November aren't on sale yet - the dates only go up until September 13th and haven't changed since the 28th. I wonder when they will start releasing future dates,..

    You don't need to link it to your UK passport. They give Chinese citizens the ability to link it to their Chinese national ID cards but this is apparently more for convenience than anything else, as they don't need to bring their ticket to the turnstiles.

    The tickets we get issued are e-tickets which have a barcode. You can either print it out, or present your smartphone for scanning. (The smartphone has the webpage open where the barcode is displayed.)

    Hope that helps!!

  5. I was told Shanghai Disney would be doing an event together with the IAAPA Asian Attractions Expo:
    http://www.themeparx.com/theme-park-expo-exhibitions-trade-shows.php (right column)

    Since the expo ends on opening day, this would require a pre-opening for the attendees. Anyone has more info?

    Dining reservations

    Had a chat with Annie from reservations on the phone today for over 1 hour! Wow it's so frustrating, as the staff don't speak good English, and don't have a lot of information, and seemingly don't want to tell me they don't have lots of information. Often it feels like you are speaking to an automated service. Because several times after I asked a question, I was asked "So, you want to know about dining at Shanghai Disney Resort, right?" And I said yes, and then she read me some pre-scripted information, which she had repeated to me five or six times during the phone call, despite my protests. And this was mostly copied from the official website! No disrespect to the staff, seriously, they are just doing their jobs, and are very nice people. But it is very frustrating the way it's organised.

    Anyway, basically I was able to confirm the following information:
    * Booked breakfast is available at Lumiere's Kitchen and Aurora only (within SDH - I didn't ask about TSH)
    * Booked breakfast times are at 6:30, 6:45, and so on every 15 minutes until 9:45 which is the last timeslot
    * Bacchus Lounge and Ballet Cafe are also open in the mornings for breakfast, but don't take bookings. And the food provided would be a lot more basic because these two venues are intended as "a place to relax" only
    * Dinner times are also every 15 minutes
    * For both breakfast and dinner, you have to arrive within 15 minutes of your booked time or the reservation will be cancelled

    About character dining, Annie told me that every restaurant offering character dining (which is only Lumiere's Kitchen (SDH) and Royal Banquet Hall (in-park) currently) is offering character dining for every single dining slot at breakfast, lunch and dinner. But to me this seems quite unlikely to be true. In fact, Annie did not even seem to know what character dining was until I explained it to her.

    She was not able to tell me anything about the food available at breakfast at each restaurant, or any further details about dinner choices than what's already on the website.

    @MarcoDisney

    I had been wanting to ask you about your third-party hotel booking for some time now but I hadn't got the chance because it was off-topic.

    I'm assuming you will now cancel your stay at Dikang Boutique Hotel, but did you ever hear anything about the status of your booking?

    I only ask because I booked the Dikang Boutique Hotel a few days ago, but I got a phonecall from the agent (english.ctrip.com) a few hours later saying they had spoken to the hotel and the hotel only accepts advance bookings up to 2 weeks in advance of your trip, not earlier. And advised me to call back 2 weeks before my trip. But I was quite surprised because you had booked it back in early February and for August, which is much further in advance even than for me!

    From your screenshots I deduced that you booked using Agoda so I re-booked through Agoda and as yet I haven't got any information from the agent about the booking being cancelled or anything like that....

    Hi Marco,

    Well this thread is like a breath of fresh air!

    I spoke to the reservations people earlier today on the phone and asked about this. The agent (Annie) told me that there is no information on this available as yet.

    So we have:
    * Jinger - Yes you can enter 2 hours early
    * Gina - Yes you can enter 2 hours early
    * Annie - No information
    * Nono - No you can't enter 2 hours early

    This is very confusing.

    If anyone gets someone in future who confirms that you can enter 2 hours early, can you please ask them about whether this applies to the opening days? On our behalf. This will help.

    To be honest, since the park opens at 9am each day, I find it unlikely that it will open 2 hours early for hotel guests, as this would mean it opened at 7am, which is really quite early for someone to visit a theme park! Does anyone else know if any other Disney parks around the world open quite this early?
