Stumbled upon this interesting article when researching about SkyWorlds. Perhaps the SkyWorlds branding was inspired by Genting's previous theme park planned in the 80s called "SamaWorld".

"The SamaWorld project comprised a Disney-like theme park, a hotel, residential and commercial developments, a health spa, a clubhouse, and a special events area with live shows (3,500-seat amphitheatre/Entertainment Complex)"

I was told that they are still waiting for spare parts shipments to arrive from all over the world. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic there have been shipment delays. If that’s really the issue, not entirely sure why Genting still proceeded with the “soft opening”.

But also maybe they are using this period to test out their current operation SOP effectiveness before the grand opening.

Sadly, RWG has also confirmed the rooms are not themed with any IPs related to the park, despite being rebranded as "Genting SkyWorlds Hotel".

We have seen what happened to MAPS Perak (Movie Animation Park Studios). I highly doubt this upcoming “International standard“ theme park would be any different.
