  1. I was invited to the preview today. No pictures are allowed inside the area, so here's a picture I took from outside.

Mine Cart Madness is an incredible ride. Probably my new personal favorite in USJ. The ride is short, as we knew, but it's doesn't feel like that. The animatronics are pretty big. Wasn't expecting something with that scale. And there are parts when the ride throws water at you. I also want to mention that the ride is thrilling, but its mostly because of the illusion that the fake rail gives. Oh, and there are bits in which the ride shakes you pretty hard.

Today everything was working perfectly, including the drums mini game and the meet and greet. Donkey Kong is huge!

Overall, an excellent addition to USJ.
  2. Here's what Miyamoto and USJ didn't show us.
I visited the park to see if the entrance (the yellow pipe that we've seen in concept art) is still covered, and that's the case. And of course, it's still guarded by two cast members. It's crazy to think that USJ always has at least one person standing there. It shouldn't take time to uncover the pipe, but it's still less than a month now...

On a different note, the park feels very crowded and I believe that the capacity that Donkey Kong brings won't be of any help. USJ needs Jurassic Park The Ride back operating right now, as well as many other rides that didn't open/closed after covid.

As a closing point, USJ is selling express passes for this ride, so guests shouldn't expect to be able to get an "area timed ticket" through the app. But that's just a guess.

  3. Google Maps has been updated and now we have a clear satellite picture of the Donkey Kong Area.

Nintendo's six months earnings will be released on Nov. 5. Hopefully Nintendo will share with investors an opening date there, followed by an official announcement on social media. Hopefully...

  4. Jurassic Park The Ride is closed. When it is open, the attraction provides much needed capacity, but at this point there's no word on when it will open.

The official calendar states that the attraction has been closed since September 2023! I initially heard that it was going to close for 2 years, but with one year left nobody knows if the attraction will change from Park to World. Anyone have satellite pictures of Jurassic Park (and Donkey Kong)? Google will never update the pictures for the USJ area.

And yes, Universal Studios Japan is a B grade park, and I feel like people don't know this. It's amazing how this park is getting away with so few rides and no new entertainment offerings (apart from the usual Halloween stuff that feels very cheap.)

  5. USJ's marketing team is busy promoting their Halloween event, so I don't see them making an announcement at this moment.

However, if they are really opening this year, they need to make an announcement in September or October. Guests will need time to do some planning and buy Express Passes, as they are very popular with new areas.

By the way, the Donkey Kong area was removed from Google Maps two weeks ago. It had its own pin and it said "open". It had only 2 stars out of 5 and people where very vocal about the area still being closed, so maybe Universal decided to remove the pin from Google Maps to avoid bad publicity.

Finally, I just want to point out that there are so many things closed at USJ at the moment. There is more beyond Super Nintendo World, and we might need to change the topic of this thread to USJ expansion, or have a new one in the future. Spiderman is gone, Jurassic Park is closed for one (almost two?) years. Backdraft, Terminator 2 (A Conan show took its place but it’s not staying, thank God), Snoopy Studio, even the Sesame Street store are all closed. I wonder what is going through the heads of the people in charge the park.

Remember, the Osaka Expo takes place next year. The park needs to be in its very best shape, and all I see is closed doors and 0 announcements.

It's not as easy as that. Express pass works and has been around for a very long time. You probably know that. The current service for WDW is a Frankenstein monster and they still need to figure it out. I guess that's something you don't understand.

Interesting topic, nevertheless. We need to wait and see how exactly Epic Universe will handle crowds, but I trust them. They need to do it right as the reviews from the first guests (real guests, not influencers) will leave a mark.

Please don't give them that kind of ideas. There's no good lesson to learn from Disney in that regard.
  8. Found this poster in Hankyu, a train station in Osaka. USJ wants to remind is that this area is opening this year.

    Opinion:
If Epic Universe is opening at the beginning of next year, I imagine that USJ wants to open the Donkey Kong area not too far from that date.
As some of you may know, USJ's Halloween season is extremely popular and the park gets crowds that are on another level. I don't see the need of opening Donkey Kong during the Hallowong event. So my guess is that it will open in November - December.

What do you guys think? If there is any information or rumors you heard, please share them with us! I've been looking forward to this area to opening to the public for such a long time and seeing it sitting there just makes me sad.

    - Greetings from Japan.

    1. Wandering Oaken's Sliding Sleighs POV. It really is a 1 minute long ride, as a user said some time ago.

    2. Frozen Ever After POV. Same scenes, better animatronics (compared to the ones we see in EPCOT) and other small changes.

Sneak Peak Into World of Frozen - An event that just took place inside the "Mickey and Wondrous Book" theater.
The event ends around the 54 min. mark. We got some pictures of the audio animatronics located in the Frozen Ever After ride and a short clip of a rather simple, animated figure located in the Wandering Oaken's Sliding Sleighs ride. The Play House in the Woods, a place where guests can meet Elsa and Anna which we have seen in concept art was briefly mentioned but we didn't get any details.
