Yesterday, February 24, the government in Shenzhen released the masterplan for Legoland Shenzhen and the surrounding area. As you can see in the masterplan, there is three gates plus a retail, dining, and entertainment area in the middle. The gate on the left (also the largest) is Legoland Shenzhen. Certain themed areas of the park can already be identified including Lego Castle, Miniland, and Lego City. The gate on the bottom right is clearly Legoland Water Park. The gate on the top right is more mysterious - at least one of the roller coasters shown in the layout looks quite large and no theme is indicated. Perhaps the entire layout of the top right gate is placeholder.

This is just speculation but I'm wondering if this expansion is a separate "Peppa Pig" area. The location of this relative to the rest of the park would make sense and the rides and design of the area seem to be similar to Peppa Pig Land at Heide Park and Gardaland and Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park.

Genting Malaysia Bhd has invested over $800 million in its new theme park, Genting SkyWorlds, targeted for opening in the second quarter of this year, the company said in a virtual briefing on Tuesday.

The hospitality and entertainment group said it was "putting the finishing touches" to the outdoor theme park which will incorporate 20th Century Studio brands and intellectual properties among its rides and attractions.

Slated for opening in Q2 of 2021, Genting SkyWorlds will take visitors on a sky-high adventure through 9 movie and adventure inspired ‘worlds’ – Eagle Mountain, Central Park, Liberty Lane, Robots Rivet Town, Andromeda Base, Ice Age, Studio Plaza, Epic and Rio. Each world will feature a host of exciting rides and attractions for the whole family to enjoy. These attractions are specially curated and designed to send imaginations soaring through an immersive experience, as if taken straight out of a movie scene. This will be complemented by a unique array of themed retail, dining, and entertainment experiences, providing a truly holistic experience for the entire family.

The newly-revealed Genting SkyWorlds logo features an amalgamation of clouds, five stars, and the façade of Genting SkyWorlds. Like a jewel on a pillowy crown, the clouds in the logo are symbolic of the theme park’s surroundings and its ‘elevated’ offering to visitors. The five stars represent the premium experience offered by Genting SkyWorlds and the brand’s five core values of hard work, honesty, harmony, loyalty and compassion. Meanwhile, the colors and façade of Genting SkyWorlds in the logo are bright and inspiring, complementing the journey into a world of fantasy.

Because the original concept of a new marine park and waterpark are in “limbo” or cancelled - the project is now just a hotel.
