The resort has launched an Imagine Your Trip online activity to invite Chinese netizens to plan their Disney trip and win the tickets to the Shanghai Disneyland
[T]here appeared many similar online campaigns that claimed participants have the opportunities to win free entrance to the Shanghai Disneyland. These faked campaigns have been widely promoted by Wechat users.

“Currently, there is no other channel on the market to purchase, win or pick up for free tickets to the Shanghai Disneyland,” the resort said in a statement.

I'm still waiting for DigitalGlobe (or any other provider) to release an updated satellite photo, and will update if they do.

Looking at the markings on the roundabout (especially the intersecting lines), they seem virtually identical with and without the blue colouring. I think if there was really water there, you wouldn't be able to see the "grooves" underneath the water, from above. Maybe it is just blue paint?

And anything has to be better than the stuff you can see out of your hotel window at Disneyland Anaheim, given SDR's comparatively more remote location (at least for now).

I also think the green carpeted area doesn't look too bad and may even be intentional (although I admit it doesn't appear on the official maps).

Regarding the roundabout, here's the appropriate segment of the 15-Nov-15 aerial:

To me, it doesn't look like water - just maybe a blue cover or something like that. But I would be quite prepared - and happy - to be wrong!!

The Beijing Times is reporting that Shanghai Disneyland is estimated to bring in revenue of 24 billion RMB ($3.65 billion) per year. This seems to be made up of ticket sales (4 billion) and merchandise sales (20 billion). So I'm guessing the hotel revenue would be counted separately.

    Source: http://www.ecns.cn/cns-wire/2016/02-05/198491.shtml

Not clear on what this amounts to in terms of actual profits and most notably when they can recoup their $5.5bln initial investment...

The article (in Chinese) said "据范希平昨天透露,迪士尼会在开园前一个月左右进行试运行,届时将会针对不同对象、不同内容来组织安排。"

Google translates this to: "According to Fan Xiping disclosed yesterday that Disney will be a trial run before the park opened about a month and there will be for different objects , different content organization ."

That's literally all I know. However someone else said on this thread earlier that the soft launch is likely to be invitation-only.

Oh, I was also thinking of staying at Dikang!! It seems to be the only hotel that is close by to a metro station on line 11. I was planning to stay there only if I can't book the on-site hotel on the nights before it opens, such as 13-15 June.

I tried to have another chat with the agents about the ticket maximum today.

Over some time of similarly non-sensical comments, we finally got somewhere.

So it seems that the 5 ticket maximum is just per-day, and is not per-attendee or per-buying-session.

China Daily are reporting that the opening date of 06-16-16 was picked because "the three 6s are believed to be auspicious, heralding success". I guess that is only in Eastern countries; here the number "666" means something quite different!!

    Source: http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/business/2016-02/03/content_23378752.htm

PS: News websites today are DISAGREEING about whether the tickets at Shanghai Disneyland are cheaper or more expensive than the ones at Hong Kong Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland!!

China Daily (link above) (SDL < HKDL+TDL "Shanghai Disney Resort has revealed its ticket prices for Disneyland claiming the lowest of all 12 Disney parks and six resorts in the world.")

    South China Morning Post:

(SDL > HKDL+TDL "Peak daily ticket price at new Shanghai Disneyland to cost more than Disney’s Hong Kong and Tokyo theme parks")

    Bloomberg:

This is the only useful piece of information I got from today. I also asked about when the hotel prices will be available, what "maximum of 5 tickets" means, how many days the opening ceremony will go on for, etc. But didn't get anything more than "please keep checking the website".

Regarding the H-shaped building, she confirmed that it is not a Disney hotel and that it is part of the SIRTZ, but both of those things were obvious anyway.

List of official travel partners has been posted: https://www.shanghaidisneyresort.com/en/faq/tickets/ticket-purchase/

There are 30 in all so I won't write all of them here. They are all Chinese companies.

Maybe we can contact all of them and see if they can give us any more information about pricing etc?

More info from the official website: https://www.shanghaidisneyresort.com/en/ticket/

"There is a maximum of 5 tickets available for purchase"
** Not sure what this means - can you buy 5 tickets and then go back later and buy another 5 tickets?
    * The date of March 28 is when we will be able to book hotels, theme parks and Lion King tickets
    * "Resort hotel rooms [...] can be booked beginning March 28, 2016 [...] Pricing and room rates will be available at that time" - this seems to suggest that hotel rates will not be announced until March 28
    * If you buy tickets for two (presumably consecutive?) days you will get a 5% discount
    * Tickets will be available on March 28 through the website, the reservation centre (phone number) and official travel partners
    * Later (i.e. not on March 28) tickets will also be available through a mobile app and on-site
    * June 16-30 is listed as the "grand opening period" - surely the opening ceremony will not last for that entire time?

Interesting how they fix the rate between 06/16 and 06/30, that is about 2 weeks.

Do we have any further details about what will be happening during those 2 weeks? I had previously assumed that the opening ceremony is only one day (June 16), but that Shendi Group press release seemed to suggest that events would be taking place over multiple days.

Wow, you are right. In fact, the view out of the window is even the same (but mirrored) as the view on Disney websites such as:

    https://www.hongkongdisneyland.com/hotels/disneys-hollywood-hotel/rates-rooms/

Therefore I think this was wrongly reported and probably isn't a real concept art of DLH rooms.

Another new post from Inside The Magic with lots more photos and concept art, particularly of the hotels...

    Lumiere's Kitchen:

A bar at DLH, not sure which one (maybe Bacchus Lounge?):

Artwork that will hang on the walls at DLH:

    Toy Story Hotel entrance:

    Toy Story Hotel lobby:

    Standard room at TSH:

This area is known as "Spice Alley" apparently:

Finally, here's some concept art of Disneytown:

Here's another segment of the 15-Nov-2015 satellite image, showing both sides of the road as in InternationalObserver's image:

Yes, I'm now even more convinced that the building MarcoDisney was talking about is actually on the east side of the road and is not the same building shown on the Disney maps. This is based on the "split pyramid" being apparently visible on the satellite image, the west/east side of the road discrepancy, and other discrepancies between the map and renderings.

Given this context, the image posted by CarlySX on Friday shows it even more clearly:

I'm still not sure....the building shown in these renderings doesn't appear to have the "H" shape shown in both the map and also the
satellite view I posted from 15-Nov. There are also other features such as the "split pyramid", the entire layout appears mirrored (left/right of road as you face towards the roundabout), the "transportation hub stands" don't appear etc etc. I think this may be a different (nearby) building, rather than the one from the Disney map.

Here's a satellite image from 15-Nov-2015, which is a bit newer than yours:

This image shows it has roughly the same shape as what is shown on the Disney map.

I agree with you that transportation is very important as there are some ramps which lead underground, roads lead into the building etc. But there is also a huge amount of space for people waiting to pick up transport. Which leads me to believe maybe it is just for whoever is living/working in that building to pick up transport headed for some other location.

The building itself is huge - I counted at least 250 windows just from the ones visible on the map, and those are presumably all separate rooms. That's a bit too big to be a transport depot "only" or a fire engine depot "only". If it is a staff-only building, it's probably a large multi-purpose office building, with transportation being for staff ("cast members") to get to their jobs at the actual resort. (WDW have a similar facility in the form of the "Disney University"/"Magic Kingdom Cast Bus Station".)

I am thinking "soon" feels closer when written in capital letters?

Seems there may be some teething problems with the chat system's agent naming?

Even if you say you don't want to continue a chat, it keeps asking you over and over again?
