There have been some rumours circulating that Disneyland Paris will not open at all this year. I just want to share that it's easy enough to check these rumours if you simply try and book for Disneyland Paris directly with them - right now I can book a hotel stay and entry to the park for April 25th 2021. If there was any chance at all that DLP knew it would not be able to open it would not be selling tickets and hotel stays, they would have made the decision to reduce the staff and resources and stop taking bookings.
Nobody knows how the French laws will move for the summer as yet and if Disneyland can open it will. There is no point speculating and reposting random vloggers opinions, especially when it is so easy to fact check. So for now DLP plan to open on April 25th, that will likely be pushed back but the intention is to open as soon as possible.

For Christophe Gomy, the shop’s co-owner who has worked with Disneyland Paris for 25 years on projects like the Space Mountain canon, the steady workload at the resort is more than welcome.
The first parts of the slide are now installed and there is also a lot going on around Rulantica

There are a couple of things to note here...
1) HKDL is now 15 years old and pre-dates any good relationship between the Chinese government and Disney. Hong Kong was the only option at that time for getting anywhere near the Chinese market and I believe that if it were to be built today Hong Kong would not be considered.
2) The main reason is economic. Shanghai for example has close to 27million residents to compare with London's 9m and New York's 8.5m people. China is going through its own economic revolution where wages are rising along with standards of living, the middle class in China is growing ,and will continue to do so for a good time to come. That money is getting spent on leisure activities and the brands see an opportunity for growth in a growing market.
3) Government policy is changing. China was always closed to "western" brands and insulated against the rest of the world. As the Government policies change they become more accessible and open to trade, tourists and foreign investment. They don't necessarily need overseas tourists to have a population to visit the park but it helps that Disney, Universal etc can bring in workers from their home countries to oversee projects.
I hope that helps, there is a lot more complexity that that but that should give you an idea of what is happening in the background.

I love how every time this park gets talked about there is always reference to Disney Parks - this is highly irresponsible. It fails to acknowledge the losses Disneyland Paris Resort has made in its years of operation and how much it is subsidised by the international parks and Disney's other income streams. If the London Resort makes losses like Disney and its partners have done on Disneyland Paris it will be completely financially unsustainable.
Yes, Disneyland Paris generates a lot of money for the local economy, that's a great ambition for the London Resort to have but if it isn't making money to fund itself it will very quickly go bankrupt and there is no big brand backing like Disney has to foot the bill when it does.
I am glad they finally have planning in, I really hope this comes off but, for the love of God, please stop comparing to a park that has absolutely zero in common with the project.
