The plots of land for both Sanya Hello Kitty Theme Park and Sanya Hello Kitty Hotel have been adjusted from commercial, financial and entertainment land to residential land.

The land that was going to be used for Sanya Hello Kitty Theme Park now appears to be for "Sanya Vientiane City" (三亚万象城) which "will bring together comprehensive retail, global cuisine, world-class entertainment IP, cultural and art centers, and all-factor duty-free experience to create a new global shopping holiday destination." Unfortunately these new plans do not seem to include an outdoor theme park in the layout.

Chen Jie, General Manager at Keyestone Group, says that the theme park will soft open in 2024 and have its grand opening in 2025.

Sanya Hello Kitty Resort will have a large booth at the China International Consumer Products Expo that takes place July 26 to July 30, 2022:

It is understood that this exhibition area has a 400-square-meter super-large immersive park experience booth, and Sanrio-themed facilities such as an indoor roller coaster with a height of 6 meters and a Ferris wheel with a height of 5.6 meters will be displayed.

New details about the theme park may be revealed during the expo so check back here at the end of the month.
