Universal would never be looking themselves, Shauney. These are licensing deals. The local developer pays the Hollywood IP a hefty annual fee just to announce the project, and then during construction all the way up until opening. Once the park is up and running, typically a revenue-share deal kicks in.

the High Court of Justice of the Region of Murcia has rejected a claim made by the promotion company, Premursa Theme Park SA, for 41.5 million euros in compensation for the annulment of the Paramount project by the courts in the light of objections raised by the Ecologistas en Acción organization in 2013.

  4. The cancellation of the Paramount theme park in Spain has now been confirmed.

  5. The new airport, Corvera, is opening in December which is very close to the land for this park, although it is reduced by 20%. Maybe someone else will look at this and resuscitate the idea. If UK goes for a hard Brexit then that would put off visitors (long customs queues, visas, etc). Then this could be a better option than London.

Officially the last nail in the coffin.

The Paramount theme park in Spain seem to have been set aside, after the ruling of the Murcia Supreme Court which declared the project illegal, according to local sources. In 2012 a law had modified the boundaries of the regional park of the Sierra de Carrascoy was cancelled. This means that about one-fifth of the land purchased by Paramount for 15 million euro in 2010 can only have an agricultural use.

  7. So 2 days after the announcement date (16th April see below) no news have been on the web - nothing!!

So another date missed and the Premursa web site has gone and is available for purchase.

  8. Only 3 days to the announcement see post below.

Will not be holding my breath, will be another missed deadline/announcement!!!!

  9. Just seen in local paper the courier that Corvera airport is now out to tender for staff. Things moving forward in that area!
