An international collaboration between Paramount Pictures and the Indonesian company, PT Kios Ria Kreasi (Kios), has now been officially announced through the signing of an agreement to build an international theme park for families in Bali, Indonesia. The 57 Ha theme park, which will be one of the largest theme parks in Southeast Asia, will carry a lush tropical atmosphere and will be filled with wondrous adventures for all ages. The park will bring a new experience of natural beauty that meets Paramount’s cinematic worlds, infused with Indonesia’s culture and hospitality.

The agreement celebration was carried out by Paramount Global’s Executive Vice President of Themed Entertainment and Experiences, Ty Granaroli, with the Managing Director of Kios, Ade Sulistioputra. It was attended by Kios’ Business Development Director, Adinda Kuntadi, Paramount Global’s Senior Vice President of Themed Entertainment, Marie Marks, along with other representatives from Paramount’s Consumer Products and Experiences group, and joined virtually by Indonesian officials including the Minister of Tourism & Creative Economy of Indonesia, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, the Governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster, The Regent of Jembrana Regency, I Nengah Tamba, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the United States of America, Rosan Roeslani, and Managing Director of Perumda Kerta Bali Saguna, Nyoman Kami Artana, on Monday evening, July 25, 2022, at Paramount Pictures Studio, in Los Angeles, California, in the United States.

Ade Sulistioputra said that this integrated theme park will become an attractive tourist destination and can educate the global community about the beautiful natural landscape of Indonesia with Paramount’s cinematic entertainment. He added that, based on a study conducted by EY Parthenon, the theme park is projected to attract more than 5 million visitors in its first year. "Paramount is a global brand that captures the imagination of everyone from children to adults. We all have exciting memories of Paramount films with a legacy of excellence that has lasted 110 years. We will tap into Paramount Picture’s library of over 1,000 films and use brands and characters that will appeal to people of all ages, while other attractions may draw on Nickelodeon’s characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” Ade explained.

In addition to park rides, the park will have two thematic hotels; Paramount Grand Resort, and the Nickelodeon Resort, which will present themes and characters from the Nickelodeon universe. These two hotels will have direct park access to the theme park by using digital tickets. An area of the park called “Land of Legends” will honor some of Indonesia’s incredible culture, myths, and legends, featuring the first Indonesian-inspired ride in an international theme park.

Paramount’s Ty Granaroli, enthusiastically welcomed the collaboration between his creative team and Kios, as they work together to create a unique blend of theme park and resort. "We believe that the beauty of Bali, combined with integrated resort hotels and a Paramount theme park will create a magnificent entertainment project that all of Indonesia can be proud of. A park like this can have a significant, long-term impact on tourism, including domestic and international visitors.”
The Paramount theme park will be located in KBS Park (KBS stands for Kerthi Bali Semesta) which is described by Kios as the following:

KBS Park is a 615.9 Ha land development in the heart of New Bali, that will be the first integrated international tourism destination in Indonesia. Strategically located between Gilimanuk and Denpasar and connected between Ngurah Rai international airport and the new North Bali airport (Sumber Klampok), KBS Park will reach both domestic and international market. In addition to developing the largest international theme park in Southeast Asia in partnership with global brands, KBS Park will develop various international standard facilities such as golf courses, sports academies, hotels and housing.

The Regent of Jembrana I Nengah Tamba attended the presentation of the strategic program design of the Province of Bali, especially in the Jembrana district regarding the Gilimanuk-Pekutatan Toll Road Development Plan.

Presentation with investors from PT. Sumber Rhodium Perkasa was represented by Tito Sulistio and the plan to develop the largest Modern Tourism Destination area or Theme Park in Southeast Asia in the Pekutatan sub-district, which was initiated by PT Paramount in Denpasar, Friday (27/8/2021).

Jembrana Regent I Nengah Tamba was met after the presentation and said that in principle he and the entire Jembrana Regency Government are very supportive of this big project. He added that with the existence of the Gilimanuk-Pekutatan Toll Road, he believes it will have an impact on increasing PAD in Jembrana, especially in the Pekutatan sub-district itself.

The plan in the easternmost sub-district of Jembrana district will also build an international-scale tourist area initiated by PT Paramount. The signing of the investment MoU took place some time ago in Jembrana.

"This is something that is highly coveted for the progress of Jembrana Regency in the future. I have also instructed the ranks of the OPD in the Jembrana Regency Government not to hinder anything, if there are rules that hinder it, immediately find a solution and resolve it so that it can be accelerated," he said.

"So there is no word that it can't be done, it must be possible, but it must still run according to the applicable rules. We really hope that this project will be realized soon," he said.

In addition, the Regent of Tamba also said that when the groundbreaking of this large project is carried out, Jembrana itself will not remain silent. It will prepare the younger generation as a professional workforce. It is known that this project is predicted to be able to absorb thousands of workers and accommodate all workers from Jembrana Regency

"Jembrana does not stay silent when this big project enters the ground breaking stage. We will also prepare it from the HR side (Human Resources). Apart from that, we also seek and develop MSMEs in Jembrana. So when the developers carry out the ground breaking, the children We send Jembrana to school, so that after about 3 years, the children in Jembrana are ready to become good, reliable, and professional workers. That is one of our focuses on preparing superior human resources," he said.

Regarding the amusement rides that will be developed in the Pekutatan sub-district, the Regent of Tamba also said that besides having an international concept, on the other hand it must also be combined with local culture, especially the typical culture of Jembrana. Jembrana itself has a lot of culture, which is the only one owned by Jembrana, not anywhere else, such as mekepung and the art of Jegog.

"I want later that in addition to the concept of international-scale tourism with various items in it, it will also be filled with Jembrana cultural tourism, such as there are spots for jegog art performances and spots for makepung. It has a very high tourism selling value, because it is the only one ( the only one) only owned by Jembrana Regency," he concluded.

Meanwhile, the developer of the Gilimanuk-Mengwi Toll Road, Tito Sulistio, said that this activity was to equalize perceptions as well as discuss with the Jembrana district government regarding the Gilimanuk-Pekutatan Toll Road Development plan and the Development Plan for the Modern Tourist Destination area in Pekutatan sub-district which was initiated by PT Paramount.
