A lot of news pointing to a potential new park for Universal in Florida

475 Acres of land was just purchased north of Universal Boulevard as shown on the map above.
Islands of Adventure is approx. 110 Acres and Universal Studios Florida is approx. 125 acres so there is plenty of room for new attractions, parks, hotels etc.

Thorpe Park has confirmed information about the new attraction currently being constructed for the 2016 season.

Curated by illusionist and mentalist Derren Brown, it is supposedly a revolutionary take on the ghost train, which features a 7 tonne, 65 foot railway carriage at it's heart, suspended in mid air by chains. The 13 minute experience will utilise grand illusion, 4D, live action and VR headsets, although it has been stressed that the VR will be a small part of the experience and this is not a VR ride.

Press release can be download from Thorpe Park's website here: https://www.thorpepark.com/press/press-releases/

So it's official - Alton Towers (UK's Biggest Theme Park) is launching a VR Rollercoaster this year which will be the UK's first.

They have just launched this cool microsite themed to show off their new "Galactica Tours" concept. It's pretty neat and marks a new level of theming for Alton Towers Resort. For some reason it wont let me link through to the images but I took some screen shots to show the concept. The site is good though so take a look.

So less than a month ago there wasn't a huge amount to see of the Kong construction apart from the facade and now it's looking awesome! So not quite a whole land but the theming looks very cool for a single ride and it's due to open this summer.

I drove past Flying Aces at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi today. Sadly there was no testing but I did take a few pics and found some bi-plane wings. Not sure what is happening with them.

    Enjoy.

What happened to F1-X? Where is the site now?
Even Motor City seems to have given up trying to pretend it still had this project. The last news update on their website was September 2014 when they posted a news story about building a gate for school kids in the wider community. There is quite literally nothing on their webpage about the park anymore other than the teaser line shown below (up until around mid 2014 it still said "coming in 2010")

The world of Formula One is coming to Dubai, are you ready? F1-X will allow you to eXplore and eXperience the world of Formula One like never before …

Guess still the same. Abandoned in Dubailand.

Alton Towers Resort, the UK's biggest theme park, could be revealing the first VR rollercoaster in a few days.

With Merlin bosses hoping to rekindle interest in Alton Towers after a poor summer, the UK theme park has revealed a teaser for “Something Exciting!”, rumoured to be the addition of virtual reality to its Air rollercoaster.

The £12m (US$17.7m, €16.2m) Air rollercoaster, designed by Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M), first opened in March 2002. The ride was the first flying rollercoaster and at the time of opening was one of the most expensive rollercoasters ever made and among the most technologically-advanced.

They also recently announced a new Rollercoaster Restaurant (another first for the UK market) and look like they are going all out in 2016 to make up for the terrible trading year in 2015. https://www.altontowers.com/activities/places-to-eat/rollercoaster-restaurant/#surf-restaurant
