Construction is set to begin in spring 2026 and the opening will take place in spring 2027. The spirit of the former “Franconian Wonderland” should not disappear completely in the future, as Robert Dahl has indicated. Visitors can expect to see a time travel carriage with preserved props.

Spoke to the executive director during my recent visit to my favourite park (Sunway Lagoon).

He shared with me the new park at Sunway Iskandar Malaysia is starting construction in Q1 2026.

It will have a dry park, wet park and an indoor game area/ mall according to the concept art.

The mall will have gaming areas (good for people who want to escape the heat) with shopping areas and food courts.

The wet park will feature blue tube slides and possibly indoor pools.

While the dry park will have a giant Ferris Wheel, red rollercoaster and lightshow with fountain.

RES RIDES AG, the Swiss ride manufacturer known for its unique rider thrilling attractions, has set another record with the opening of the world’s tallest Roller Ball at Conny-Land, Switzerland’s largest theme park. The Roller Ball, named Antares rises to 34 meters and is perched on top of the new building that houses the bumper cars, creating a unique combination of rides with efficiency of space.

Antares, delivers pure altitude rush for adrenaline fans and brave families alike. Antares tells the story of ancient visitors from the massive Antares star who crashed down to earth. ‘’We wanted to tie the Space and Voodoo area together with the Roller Ball, and we achieved this with the Antares story,’’ says CEO Roby Gasser. ‘’Also, our park has limited ground space, so we came up with the idea of putting the Roller Ball on top of the Bumper Cars, so we didn’t use any extra space. Plus, now we have the highest roller ball in the world!’’ says Roby.

The RES RIDES’ Roller Ball packs in action in a small footprint. Riders climb to 34 meters taking in the views while the anticipation increases as they wonder what comes next! Suddenly riders swing, zigzag, and freefall down the vertical coaster track. It’s giggles, thrills, and fun for everyone! ‘’The Antares feedback has been very good, as we expected. RES has a very good product, so we are happy to present it,’’ says Jeremy Gasser, part of the family management team.

Thanks to its size and shape, the Roller Ball gives so many installation options: on top of another ride, on a façade of a building, or anywhere with its ultra-low footprint. The Roller Ball works like a vertical billboard and can be seen for miles away.’’ Says Roman Rothe, RES RIDES CEO.’’

RES RIDES has successfully collaborated with Conny-Land before, after installing their Vertical Dark Ride called the Crazy Professor, winning 3 industry awards. ‘’We enjoy working with Conny-Land because they know what they want, and they are open to trying new things, like putting our ride on top of another ride.’’ Says Rothe. Roby Gasser adds, ‘’We have worked with RES for quite a while now and our experience with them has been very professional, and we are pleased to be working with a Swiss company.’’

The Swiss Coaster Club enjoyed a soft opening and chance to ride Antares on 29 May before the official opening. RES RIDES engineers Oscar Elgarrista and Andre Hilfiker delivered a behind the scenes opportunity for attendees to get an up-close look at the engineering of the Roller Ball and to enjoy the first rides on Antares.

RES RIDES AG, is thrilled to announce the opening of their SUPER SWING M20 at Gröna Lund, Parks and Resorts Scandinavia in Stockholm, Sweden. Gröna Lund named the ride Pumpen (The Pump) and opened to delighted thrill seeking crowds on 26 April. The Super Swing is only the second in the world and delivers an exhilarating experience as guests are launched high into the air while swinging back and forth in suspended high-speed motion.

The RES RIDES’ flat ride is designed to provide a dynamic and heart-pumping experience as riders soar to dizzying heights that are combined with rapid swings and a sensation of weightlessness. Each swing feels like an exciting, gravity-defying suspended moment and perfect for thrill-seekers looking for a new challenge. Riders are guaranteed to get their adrenaline pumping on this unique giant of a ride!

RES RIDES began collaborating with Gröna Lund in 2022 after they expressed an interest in a unique one-of-a-kind thrill ride. Roman Rothe, CEO of RES says ‘Gröna Lund came to us and told us what they were looking for. We adapted our Super Swing M20 to deliver the kind of thrill and excitement that they were looking for. We’re very excited about Pumpen!’

The Super Swing M20 can be programmed to deliver a gentle ride for kids and families, or an adrenaline pumping ride for adrenaline seeking riders. Programs can be changed at a touch of a button to cater to demographics at different times of the day.

Huss Park Attractions, the German ride manufacturer, is celebrating the opening of Toxicator at Alton Towers Resort in the UK. Standing at 78 feet high, with a 16-foot elevated platform, the new ride is the highest Top Spin ride of its kind, and the company worked in partnership with Merlin Magic Making and Alton Towers Resort to create the unique experience.

The attraction is the next chapter in the story of Forbidden Valley, with Toxicator representing new technology by the Phalanx – the secret (and fictional) organization that controls the Nemesis beast. During the experience, riders are flipped upside down and suspended face-first above a bubbling pool of "toxic alien acid", with water fountains erupting around the attraction.

The Top Spin Suspended from HUSS®

The Top Spin is one of Huss Park Attractions' most successful products and is found in parks worldwide. The Top Spin Suspended model features 38 seats arranged in a back-to- back (B2B) layout where each row faces the opposite direction. This cutting-edge suspended seating design provides an exhilarating floorless gondola experience, enhancing the sensation of freedom.

Riders on Toxicator can enjoy stunning views on both sides of the suspended gondola. They can also ride comfortably and safely, thanks to upgraded seats and shoulder restraints, and there is no need for a crotch or lap belt, allowing for optimized operation. Guests can walk through a tunnel beneath the attraction, getting close to the action and the overhead splash hazard. This installation features a brand-new multifunctional water fountain system on both sides (right over the entrance and exit to the tunnel), capable of spraying up to 8 meters high, synchronized to the ride controls.

Toxicator includes new show ride cycles with synchronized motion, lights and water games to custom soundtracks. The water feature is ready for summer and winter operation, with dryers already installed on-site, and the whole attraction and fountain system can be illuminated for the park's award-winning Alton After Dark events.

Located in Forbidden Valley, Toxicator is flanked by the Nemesis Reborn coaster, which opened last year after an 18-month transformation to replace its 250-tonne, 716-metre-long track.

Next to building an enormous indoor expansion, called Sanctuary, this unique zoo and resort is adding an indoor waterpark too.
The Sanctuary will be 200x200 meters and the height a stunning 23 meters.
