The "Parc Spirou Provence" theme park acquires the "Wave Island" water park

Parc Spirou Provence is expanding its offering in the regional theme park market in the South-East of France.

Wave Island: 150,000 visitors every summer
Located just a few metres from Parc Spirou, Wave Island attracts an average of 150,000 visitors every summer (open from June to September). each summer (open from June to September).
Wave Island offers the widest range of water attractions for all ages over 5 hectares of adventure and sliding, including slides that are unique in the world.
It is one of the largest and most recent of the leading family water parks in France.
Wave Island also offers: 2 artificial waves for surfing, bodyboarding and flowboarding from age 7, services and accommodation, the Wave Village...

Double the number of visitors to nearly 600,000 a year.
By integrating Wave Island, Parc Spirou aims to diversify its offer.
Visitors will now be able to enjoy a unique experience, with a varied itinerary ranging from theme park to water park, featuring all the comic strip characters that have made Parc Spirou such a success.

Immersive themed accommodation.
In the medium term, the aim is also to develop a family holiday offering with themed and immersive accommodation.
Wave Island will undergo significant changes over the next few years as part of Parc Spirou's offering. This transformation will respect the values and expertise of Parc Spirou, which are strongly committed to visitors: quality of welcome, environmental commitment, safety, access to culture and family adventure in the world of comic strips.
The acquisition was made possible thanks to the collaboration of partner banks, shareholders, Média Participations, Editions Dupuis, LPS, Wikipark, the Sorgues du Comtat community of municipalities and the town halls of Monteux, Alérion and Ollyns.

"This acquisition is an important milestone for the two theme and water parks, which, by joining forces, will eventually create a genuine leisure destination in the south of France", says Hervé Lux, Managing Director of Parc Spirou Provence.

About Parc Spirou Provence (Média-Participations group)
Parc Spirou Provence is a family theme park located in the South-East of France near Avignon, in Monteux in the Vaucluse department which welcomes 320,000 visitors a year.
Parc Spirou is dedicated to the characters that appeared in the "Journal de Spirou" newspaper. It features famous heroes such as Spirou, the Marsupilamis, the Smurfs, Lucky Luke, Boule & Bill and Kid Paddle.

We got to see the new Mega Movie Parade yesterday. It was in technical rehearsal so it was still ‘rough around the edges’. Some of the music wasn’t working, at least 2 floats were still missing (total of 13) and LED screens/special effects were not working.
