Police surround Evergrande's head office in Guangzhou for weeks, either to scare rioters away or have government officials inside auditing their dirty books. Many staff haven't been paid since August, many elderly investors put their life savings into buying unbuilt condominiums and then Evergrande stopped construction on them. All the while the Chairman, who last year was worth 85 Billion US$ has had his fortune drop to 14 Billion. Very sad situation for many.
