Anyone who has worked on that project for any modicum of time knows the following truths:

    1) They are out of money.
    2) The cut necessary costs related to the construction of the parks going for absolute minimums.
    3) The parks are being built too fast with basically slave labor involved.
    4) Most of the decision makers on the project have little to no theme park or build experience.

Dubai Parks and Resorts leases close to two thirds of Riverland area to market leading dining and retail brands.

[DPR] exceeded its own letting targets for last year, with more than 50 per cent of the 220,000 sq ft of dining and retail space already taken. New tenants announced include UK family dining chain Giraffe, Taste of Italy, Tom’s Deli and Parle, while retail units have been taken by pharmacy chain Boots and souvenir shop Mr Camel Memories.
“As part of the country’s positioning as a family holiday destination, the government is keen to invest in developing and maintaining state-of-the-art infrastructure and expand the number of sightseeing places, especially tourist attractions.” said Ms Jarmalaite. “According to Euromonitor International, over the next five years, theme park sales are expected to more than double their size, up to Dh 2bn-3bn.”

    More landscaping news...

More than 376 plant species have been sourced locally, and from Spain, Italy, Thailand, India and China to enhance the three theme parks and adjoining properties: motiongate Dubai, Bollywood Parks Dubai, Legoland Dubai together with Legoland Water Park.
So far, over 350 Washingtonia palms have been planted, with over 3,650 being tended to in the nursery.

Dubai Parks and Resorts has imported 14 eight-metre-tall olive trees ranging between the ages of 200 and 300 years from Italy. Sourced from various plantations in Tuscany as well as the South of Italy, they will find their new home at motiongate Dubai.

So not the most exciting of news but it did make me wonder... Where are they putting all these plants? A 2M sqf Nursery is going to be some footprint even on a site that big.

The developer has acquired 15,860 trees, 6,100 palms and over 1.4-M shrubs and ground covers to landscape the project
Clearly its going to have a huge impact and make the current landscape look much more like it does in the lush green concept art.

The project will also have a nursery that stretches over 2.M sqf and will have the capacity to house over 15,000 trees and palms and more than 900,000 shrubs and ground covers. The nursery will include 4 greenhouses with a capacity of more than 100,000 pots each.
