LEGOLAND New York is confirmed as official and had a break-dropping ceremony last week to promote the new park set to open in 2020. The video below shows off some clips of officials talking about the park mixed with some preview graphics of the park as well.

Good News for LEGOLAND New York

A planning board in Goshen, about 60 miles north of New York City, approved a site plan Thursday to build a $500 million theme park based on the construction toy, which would open in 2019.
Town officials are seeking to block the referendum, which would be held in December if their efforts fail. They’ve said a referendum wouldn’t stop the project, just modify it slightly, the Times Herald-Record reported.

The Goshen Village Board voted unanimously to sign an agreement with Merlin Entertainments Group to supply water and sewer service for its proposed LEGOLAND New York theme park. The theme park is close to obtaining necessary permits to begin construction on a 521.95-acre site, consisting of 15 total parcels that are located off Harriman Drive.

The Goshen Town Board has approved crucial zoning changes to allow the Legoland New York project to proceed. The zoning changes modify the town’s comprehensive plan to allow commercial development on the site of the planned theme park. The next step is Legoland has to go back to the Planning Board, which would then work toward site plan approval and permits.

    Update:

The proposed $500 million Legoland New York theme park took another step forward Thursday when the town planning board voted its OK of a local law that would permit what the town is calling a “commercial recreation facility” on the site where Legoland’s developer wants to build. The vote was 5-0 with one planning board member, Diana Lupinski, recusing herself.
Bergus said the Findings Statement could be ready as soon as Aug. 17. That Findings Statement would list any measures Legoland must take to mitigate any potential negative effects identified in the environmental review process. Once the town board finishes its work, the focus would shift back to the planning board, which would then move toward site plan approval and permits. Pending approvals, Merlin would like to start construction this year and open the park in 2019.

More meetings and votes this week bring it closer to reality but not without local residents opposing the plans still

GOSHEN – The proposed $500 million Legoland New York theme park cleared a key hurdle Thursday when the town Planning Board voted 5-1 to accept the project’s Final Environmental Impact Statement.
About 200 people packed Orange County’s Emergency Services Center’s auditorium for Thursday’s session, which was not a public hearing. Still, opponents booed and laughed when board members cited portions of the FEIS that said traffic would not be impacted, given Legoland’s proposed highway improvements, and water supplies would be adequate.

    Update:

GOSHEN, N.Y. (May 15, 2017) – LEGOLAND® New York officials expressed gratitude following the Town of Goshen’s board meeting on May 15, where the board approved the enhanced Community Host Benefit Agreement in a 4-1 vote.

“We want to express our deepest thanks to the members of the board who voted to approve this Community Host Benefit Agreement,” said Phil Royle, LEGOLAND New York’s head of project & community relations. “We are humbled and appreciative of the board’s recognition of our commitment to bring tremendous financial benefits to Goshen and greater Orange County. We are equally committed to being a very positive and active neighbor in the community. We look forward to the next steps in this transparent review process, which is to discuss the FEIS.”
The Host Community Benefit Agreement will take effect if the Town Board votes to pass a local law modifying the zoning to allow the LEGOLAND project.
