A state Supreme Court Judge tossed a lawsuit brought by Legoland opponents challenging the $500 million project, ruling that the opponents, Concerned Citizens for the Hudson Valley, would not suffer harm as the park progresses toward opening and, therefore, did not have standing to bring the suit.

Legoland has finished clearing 98.4 acres for its planned $500 million Legoland New York theme park, and that means the park is on target to open in spring 2020, the development director said Tuesday.

Phil Royle, development director for Legoland New York, said clearing was completed last week. Royle said contractors will now move on to grading operations. He could not say precisely when construction would start.

A state Supreme Court Judge lifted a restraining order Monday on tree-clearing at the Legoland New York site that had been in effect for 42 days. But attorneys for Legoland opponents said they’ll be in appeals court in Brooklyn Wednesday, seeking a new restraining order.
In a statement released Tuesday, Legoland New York said the “recently dismissed temporary restraining order” is not expected to cause an overall delay.

Legoland opponents won a round in court Tuesday when a judge issued a temporary restraining order stopping tree-clearing at the roughly 500-acre site.
In his court papers, Ian Sarjeant, senior project director for Legoland development, said if tree-clearing does not continue during January, the opening would be delayed until spring 2021. That’s because site-clearing is only allowed between Nov. 1 and March 31 to protect roosting areas for two species of bats.

And Sarjeant said a delay would likely increase the cost of the park due to construction cost inflation. Sarjeant said to open in spring 2020, Merlin must start construction of the main buildings by April. Therefore, site-clearing of approximately 95 acres must be completed no later than April 1.

    Construction has officially begun!

Legoland started site-clearing work Wednesday for its $500 million theme park, with permits from the Town of Goshen and two state agencies posted at its newly constructed main gate on Harriman Drive.

There have been further issues with planning licenses for LEGOLAND but it looks like they have a lot of weight behind them now.

No site clearing has been done yet. The five-month window for site clearing opened Nov. 1, under state and federal regulations designed to protect two species of bats.
In another new development, Sen. Chuck Schumer has stepped into the complex approvals process, calling on the Army Corps of Engineers to expedite approvals for the Legoland New York park. The Corps of Engineers is involved because there are wetlands on the site. The Otterkill flows through the east side of the site and there is a pond
Schumer, D-N.Y, wrote Col. Thomas Asbery, commander of the New York District Corps of Engineers, urging the corps to “promptly review” Legoland’s application and issue the necessary wetland permits “if appropriate.” In his letter, Schumer emphasized the anticipated jobs and economic benefits Merlin Entertainments, Legoland’s parent, has promised.

Another local group have been defeated as they try and stop the themepark being built.

A judge has rejected a petition calling for a public referendum on the town of Goshen selling land to Merlin Entertainments Group for the creation of a Legoland theme park.
Legoland New York spokesman Phil Royle declined to comment on Brand’s ruling but issued a statement that read: “The sale of the lots will provide income to the town of Goshen, will be added to the tax rolls, and Legoland New York will donate two wells that the town of Goshen could use to address water concerns in the Arcadia Hills community.”
