I'll be there this weekend to enjoy the new land. The thing to remember for anything HKDL - Land size is so small and they can't just 'get more land'. Also need to remember it is reclaimed land so anything that is super heavy (like the castle) still sinks a little after construction.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear just now, I meant like 2nd best kids-based Vekoma attraction (e.g. Barnstormer, Gadget's, etc.). Yup sorry!

  3. 2nd best Vekoma?
I'm pretty sure that you will agree that there are many more that are way better than the two: Expedition Everest, Tron, Guardians: Cosmic Rewind (The longest Indoor Coaster in the World btw.), Big Thunder Mountain (DLP), Space Mountain (DLP), even the Rock'n Rollercoasters.

I think it's more like a "nice to have" attraction, especially for kids. Of course, it's a Disney-Coaster, so people and Disney are hyping it to the moon. Because of the lack of attractions in Paris, this would be a nice addition as well... . But yeah, maybe they will get it in 2030 as a big third face Expansion :')

You are right, most Vekomas around Disney are very short, the problem with people is that we aren't given much information at HK and people aren't clear about the coaster type and who it is mainly targetted for, so it might be a bit misleading on why the ride is short itself. I still think this might be the 2nd best Vekoma in a Disney park, the 1st being Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

I believe you are right. Although HKDL has not officially announced to the public audience about the ride time YET, the description of the ride and it's scenery really captures people's attention to ride it no matter what. It could change their perspective but again, it's a family coaster and you can enjoy scenic views while being aboard on it so...

  6. While I knew what to expect, I think the surprise many people are going to have is the amount of rockwork and theming the ride has, leading guests to believe this much more to the attraction than there actually is.

Every other Vekoma junior coaster is almost exactly the same length, why did anyone think this would be any different? Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster, Flight of the Hippogriff, Barnstormer... they're all about the same. At least this one has a unique layout and great theming overall. The park needed a kiddie coaster like this, and this fills that void very nicely.

And if Disney did not build two attractions you would be calling Disney cheap. Not every ride has to be for thrill seekers.

I look at what Disney built as a complete themed area with stunning architecture, fantastic theming and kinetic energy to create a wonderful addition to Hong King Disneyland.

But then again, Disney bashing is all the rage now, and positive comments don't get as many clicks.

Disney will spend $50 million on ride theming, $150M on area theming, but $500K on the actual ride elements.

    So lame.
