HKDL will bid farewell to Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters on August 31. Patrick Dunn, Flight Lieutenant of the Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps joined Sammy Phu, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Ambassador, for one final adventure with Buzz Lightyear on this ride-through attraction based on the blockbuster movie “Toy Story 2.”
Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters located in Tomorrowland will be transformed into a new Marvel-themed interactive shooting game, making it the second Marvel-themed attraction following the popular Iron Man Experience. Upon completion, guests can join Marvel Super Heroes to defeat invaders in this new attraction.
Starting from September, Buzz Lightyear will rejoin his friends at Toy Story Land to greet guests.

There were talks of starting preparing the land for the 2nd gate right after construction would be finalized for Shanghai. However, with the major expansion announced for the first park in the meantime, surely this will be pushed back?! Especially with the difficulties they are having in discussions with the government to finance these expansions.

Does anyone have an idea what the timeline would look like for an hypothetical 2nd gate?

Yes, the second image is January 2017, the top image is November 2016.

I believe so. That's definitely park 2 expansion space.

I just don't think their visitor numbers support it so thought perhaps they were using it for the staging of new rides, building materials etc but it's far too large for that surely.

  10. @CarlySX, is the second picture from January 2017.

They have started clearing the land for the second park. Without announcing it. Interesting.
