It turns out that Hainan Ocean Paradise's opening date is actually set for December 20, not December 21, but it's still unclear what will be ready then and what will open later.

Ride testing is in full swing at Hainan Ocean Paradise!





The park had a launching ceremony to celebrate the successful emergency ride evacuation drills.







And last but not least, Intamin is on site! This is a great sign for the park's two roller coasters and Coaster Wheel.

During an employee swearing-in ceremony, Hainan Ocean Paradise announced that the park will open on December 21, 2021. Unless a lot of the animals arrive and more rides start testing immediately, I expect about half or less of the park's rides, animal exhibits, and shows to be operational so I would consider it a soft-opening.

Lately the monorail has been open to guests regularly. It's a nice way to give the public a preview of the park before it's ready to open.
