The Aichi Prefecture government announced that the theme park's approximate cost is 34 billion yen (31 billion for construction of all five areas and 3 billion for design and planning). It is estimated that there will be approximately 1.8 million visitors a year once all five areas are opened.

Construction is scheduled to begin in July 2020 with an opening in Fall 2022! The theme park will be divided into five areas, three of which will be completed upon opening and the other two the following year in 2023.

Ghibli Park will be located on a 200-hectare plot of land on which the 2005 World’s Fair was held near Nagoya, Japan. The focus will be on bringing Studio Ghibli to life in a way that allows parkgoers to also enjoy nature.
