Permits have been filed for construction to begin on the new 'Ratatouille' ride coming to Epcot's France pavilion

Walls are now up around what will be the queue/pre-show building for the new 'Guardians of the Galaxy' roller coaster

According to sources, the roller coaster will load guests in the former Universe of Energy attraction, launching guests through a tunnel into a 10-story tall show building. The coaster will reportedly be a first of its kind ride system, but it remains unclear how it will differ from a conventional ride.

The attraction will mark the very first roller coaster for Epcot in its 35 year history, the last remaining Disney Park on earth without one.

Epcot Vice President, Melissa Valiquette, confirmed to the media that the Guardians of the Galaxy attraction will indeed be a roller coaster.

While the vast majority of the permit space is for backstage work, there is a show building visible, with what appears to be indications of a launch tunnel. We’ve highlighted the current Universe of Energy building in blue, the yet-to-be-constructed gravity building in green, and the connecting launch tunnel in red.

Mission:Space is relaunching!

Announced over the weekend at the D23 Expo, in just a few weeks, guests will be able to enjoy new adventures at Mission: SPACE – an updated Orange Mission and a brand-new Green Mission.

The updated Orange Mission will make an even more visually stunning trip to Mars thanks to a new film animated by the folks over at ILM, while the all-new Green adventure will allow guests to blast off for a completely different orbital adventure around planet Earth.

While an exact date is not given, Disney did promise that the new Ratatouille attraction would be open in time for the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World in 2021.
