New images have been released for Guangzhou Chimelong Tourist Resort's upcoming expansion which will officially include a new 106 acre theme park. The new theme park is currently being referred to as "Chimelong Super Park" (长隆超级乐园) and is located south of Chimelong Safari Park and west of Chimelong Paradise, on what is currently an empty plot of land.

New plan for the southwest corner of Guangzhou Chimelong Tourist Resort has been reviewed and approved:

The total planned building area is 552,000 square meters, including 195,000 square meters of commercial, 278,000 square meters of amusement parks, cultural and sports facilities, and 79,000 square meters of residential areas.

Construction of the third phase of the major theme park Chimelong Tourist Resort officially kicked off in this Guangdong provincial capital's Panyu district on Monday, with an aim to help build the watery town of the Pearl River into a world-class tourist destination in the years to come.

In addition to increasing its new recreational facilities, the third phase of the theme park will add more cultural, high-tech and related projects, hotel rooms, restaurants, parking places and related tourism facilities, Gong Liangqing, president of the Chimelong Group, said at the groundbreaking ceremony.

"When construction of the third phase is completed, Chimelong tourist resort in Guangzhou will have more than 10,000 luxury hotel rooms, playing a big part in promoting the development of the tourism industry in the southern metropolis in the following years," he said.

While major expansions are currently underway at Chimelong International Ocean Tourist Resort and Chimelong Qingyuan Forest Resort is under construction, an approximately three billion dollar transformation of Guangzhou Chimelong Tourist Resort was unveiled today.

The transformation plans include:

- New 1.4 million square foot cartoon themed indoor theme park
- Chimelong Paradise will be getting new rides including a new roller coaster
- Chimelong Water Park will be getting a new indoor area
- Chimelong Safari Park will be expanded including a larger panda exhibit
- Chimelong International Circus will be relocated
- Eight new hotels
- 40.5 acre retail, dining, office and entertainment complex (comparable to Universal CityWalk, Disney Springs, Riverland, etc.)
