Last month construction on the foundation of Chimelong International Ocean Tourist Resort's second gate, currently referred to as "Chimelong Marine Science Museum," was completed.

This is the latest design of the indoor marine science and entertainment complex:

According to the project's environmental impact report, Chimelong Marine Science Museum is costing RMB 3.5 billion to build which is about 534 million US dollars. Chimelong Marine Science Museum is expected to open during fourth quarter 2018.

    Progress from June 18, 2017:

Also this month the chairman of Chimelong Group visited the construction site but not much can be seen of the actual construction site in the photo

As of April 2017 there is no construction on the plots of land that are directly north and south of Chimelong Hengqin Bay Hotel:

    North -

    South -

There is construction though directly south of the theme park itself. This has not been 100% officially confirmed but it can be inferred that this is the location of the indoor marine park that was announced at the beginning of 2016.

Photos of the construction site are limited and of low quality but here are some from the past few months taken by people staying at Chimelong Hengqin Bay Hotel that have views of the construction site from their room:

Here's another angle of the construction site but unfortunately the view is obstructed by foliage:

Even though it had already been confirmed, yesterday Chimelong officially "announced" that they have nine orcas. They are currently being held in a temporary indoor holding facility down the street from Chimelong Ocean Kingdom. They are not on display to the public yet. They will most likely be on display at the new indoor "Chimelong Marine World" which is being built across the street from Chimelong Ocean Kingdom.
