Great article published on the Hollywood Reporter:
    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/chinas-wanda-plans-theme-park-636431

Days after announcing the world's largest movie studio development, company chairman Wang Jianlin touts another project, saying it "will surpass Disney in both revenue and number of visitors."
The project, dubbed Wuxi Wanda City, will span 296 acres around a small lake. It will include an outdoor amusement park, a “film city” with 3D cinemas, an indoor children’s theme park, an “extreme sports hall,” seven resort hotels, a commercial center with over 200 retail shops, and a “bar street” of at least 20 venues.

“Wuxi Wanda City will have richer content than Disney,” Wang was quoted as saying. "[We] expect to attract 20 million tourists a year. Wanda has confidence that [our tourism project] will surpass Disney in both revenue and number of visitors.”
Wanda says Wuxi Wanda City will be up and running by 2016.

  3. This is a bit confusing. Are they working on one theme park, or on several ones. Is this Wuhan movie theme park the one which is supposedly going to compete or surpass Hong Kong Disneyland? What is under construction today, and what is just talk?

Dalian Wanda Group was founded in 1988 and operates in five major industries, including commercial properties, luxury hotels, tourism investment, cultural industry, and a department store chain.
The year of 2012 witnessed the opening of Wanda Group’s Changbaishan International Resort. Apart from this, our Xishuangbanna and Dalian Jinshi projects are also under construction. We are also master planning our Beijing Cultural Tourism City project, and its construction will start soon.
There are six major parts in the planning of the Cultural Tourism City, including cultural projects, tourism projects, commercial projects, theme parks, hotels, and the convention center. These are mainly indoor projects, to completely eliminate the weather’s negative effects to the cultural amusement.
The “Han Show” Theatre and the Movie Technology Amusement Park of Wuhan Central Cultural District will be opened for business in 2014. Xishuangbanna International Resort will open in 2015, and Dalian Jinshi and Beijing Cultural Tourism City will open in 2016.
