Disney's Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser vacations are to begin in 2021 at Walt Disney World Resort, the company announced in December, as it released new images of the immersive experience.

The two-night, cruise-style itinerary sees guests arrive initially at the Galactic Starcruiser Terminal (see main picture), from where they board an exclusive "launch pod" that takes them to their hotel, also known as the Halcyon starcruiser, in "a galaxy far, far away". Looking through the pod's viewports gives the impression of travelling through space to reach the starcruiser.

Guests can also pick up special passenger transports to Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu (otherwise known as Disney's Hollywood Studios) ? destination for the 14-acre Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge experience. These transport ships (see image below) have been specially designed to keep guests "in-story".

Today, December 5, 2019, was the official opening of "Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance" within Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Hollywood Studios. The ride was met with a very enthusiastic reaction from what were relatively large crowds. The ride was accessible only through a virtual queue boarding group system which filled up soon after park opening. The ride experienced at least two downtimes about 30-60 minutes each but when it was running the boarding groups were moving decently quick.

Leaked Photos Show Interior of Resistance Transport Ship for Rise of the Resistance Attraction

This ship will play a critical role in the Rise of the Resistance attraction, taking guests from Batuu up to space before they’re captured by the First Order in a Star Destroyer.

The I-TS will function much like the elevator shafts at the Escape from Gringotts attraction or even a bit like the stretching room in the Haunted Mansion in that it will drive the story forward without much motion. The ship will, reportedly, turn 180-degrees to allow the load and unload areas to take place through the same door. By putting the I-TS on a turntable, Disney can load guests at the 6-o’clock position and unload guests at the 12-o’clock position, starting in the cave systems of Batuu and ending up in the Star Destroyer.

A Star Wars vacation experience unlike anything Disney has ever created before will fully immerse guests in a galaxy far, far away when Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser debuts at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will offer a two-night itinerary where all guests arrive and depart together, similar to Disney Cruise Line. Unlike any typical cruise, though, you can become the heroes of your own Star Wars story in a new type of immersive experience that only Disney could create.

Every window in the Halcyon – including those in each cabin – has a view of the galaxy beyond, with ever-changing vistas as the ship progresses from place to place.
