Although construction of the park continues, issues regarding the risk of damaging buried ruins at the site remain. Earlier this week a preservation group photographed evidence of a ditch being dug on top of ruins. They reported this to the Cultural Heritage Administration and now construction on the ditch specifically has stopped. The ditch is pictured in the last photo below:

As construction ramps back up, so do the photos

The future home of Universal's signature rotating globe

As a bonus, take a look at the concept art below:

At first, this might just look like the same old concept art that Universal/Comcast has been using for years, but check out the detail and you may notice distinct differences not found in the official version released almost five and a half years ago. In particular, going clockwise starting at the park's entrance, Hulk and Fast & Furious signs are present, a dragon can be seen perched atop Gringotts Wizarding Bank, a snow-covered Hogsmeade village plus Hogwarts Castle is clearly visible, and lastly a large ship is seen indicating a Madagascar-themed area. Of course much of this could just be placeholders, and the official concept art was obviously changed to make the attractions/areas less recognizable and more generic (just like the official concept art for Universal's Epic Universe) but it's still interesting to see.

For your convenience here's high resolution of the official concept art to compare:

Despite the governor’s call for businesses to scale back the number of employees at their worksites, construction is moving full steam ahead at the site of the Legoland amusement park in the Town of Goshen.

The facility is slated for a July 4 opening.

“The health and safety of our team is always our top priority and we will take all necessary precautions to ensure their continued welfare,” said Julie Estrada, head of public relations North America for Merlin Entertainments. “We have implemented enhanced cleaning regimens in all our office spaces and on our construction site and will follow recommended practices and government recommended guidelines as appropriate to maintain a safe environment.”

Estrada said their public safety team is “alert to signs of coronavirus symptoms and we continue to stress to our employees the importance of good hygiene.”

She said they are “following the guidance of state, county, and local authorities, and like many businesses, we continue to monitor the situation closely so we may respond quickly to any developments.”

Chengdu Sunac Cultural Tourism City seems to be minimally effected. Its indoor snow park, which is almost completed, is scheduled to open in July 2020. Meanwhile its outdoor theme park is entering its final stage of construction - 50% of the rides have been commissioned. The theme park as well as the indoor mall are scheduled to open in September 2020.

A Legoland has been in development for the area in China south of Chengdu in the vicinity of Tianfu New Area/Meishan for over two years. The “Legoland Theme Park of Tianfu New Area Signing Ceremony” took place on February 7, 2018. The “Sichuan Tianfu LEGOLAND Project Signing Ceremony” took place on September 15, 2019. Soon after on September 27, 2019 a press conference took place to formally announce ‘Legoland Sichuan Resort’:

Merlin Entertainments (“Merlin”), a global leader in location based entertainment with brands including LEGOLAND, Madame Tussauds, SEA LIFE and the Dungeons, today announces that it has entered into a partnership agreement with Global Zhongjun Cultural Tourism Development Co., Ltd (“Global Zhongjun”) to build and operate a LEGOLAND Resort in Sichuan Province in Western China. The resort is scheduled to open by 2023.

Under the terms of the agreement, Global Zhongjun will fund the construction of LEGOLAND Sichuan, as well as the required infrastructure and adjacent commercial developments, while Merlin will partner in the resort development and operate it under a management contract arrangement.

LEGOLAND Sichuan will be located within the Tianfu New Area in the city of Meishan, approximately 60km south of Chengdu city centre. With good transport links by road and a future metro station planned for the area, LEGOLAND Sichuan will be within a two-hour catchment of 30 million residents. Chengdu and the surrounding region is also a popular tourist destination within Western China attracting millions of international and domestic visitors each year.

The resort will open with two fully-themed LEGOLAND Hotels, with an estimated capacity of 500 rooms. It will also have scope to incorporate further attractions in the future.

More recently further progress has been made when on February 27, 2020 the project’s environmental impact report was accepted. The report states “The proposed project is scheduled to start construction in March 2020, and is expected to be completed in September 2023.” When completed, the approximately 40 acre park will have more than 50 themed attractions, rides and more than 10,000 classic Lego models. The theme park will feature nine areas plus a waterpark which may or may not be a separate gate. The areas are shown below in the layout:

On March 16, 2020, Deputy Governor Yang Xingping led a team to Chengdu and Meishan to investigate the progress of key tourism projects, including Legoland Sichuan Resort. He emphasized that while working to prevent and control the epidemic, construction of these projects should be restored and accelerated to effectively promote local economic development.

According to a new article, the coronavirus has overall not affected the construction progress on Universal Beijing Resort. All projects in the park have fully resumed and the total number of onsite construction personnel has exceeded 14,000, which is basically what the peak number of workers was prior to the virus. As shown in some of the photos of CityWalk, thousands of trees which have been growing at the onsite nursery are being planted throughout the resort.
