Between these two reports, it looks to me like Merlin are only investing in the projects around the park rather than the construction of the park itself due to not wanting to get involved in local legalities. So the local procurement of investment has been left to local Gangwon Province and ELel Development to secure the funding needed to build the actual park.

This park is looking less likely each passing day...

In the meantime, officials also reported that they had an unfounded illusion that "Merlin would invest directly." Jong Jae-woong (Chuncheon, along with Democratic Party) said, "From the beginning of the project, the participants who have vested interests have avoided entry of large-scale investment and made a wall."
"From now on, it is necessary to strengthen transparency, to prevent the collapse of the Alpensia and Taebaek Otu Resort, "We need to re-check to make sure it is not a precedent for large-scale projects." Kim, Jin-Jin Chung said,

According to the Legoland Support Division of Gangwon Province, Merlin Entertainment Group will hold a board of directors meeting on August 3 (UK local day) to invest KRW 165 billion including KRW 110 billion including KRW 55 billion in real estate and related hotels in Legoland theme park in Gangwon Province. 150 billion KRW The company decided not to invest in the direct construction related to the main construction due to difficulty in financing itself.

This deal is becoming difficult to understand but it looks more like a reshuffle for their assets that a full scale sell off.

They are passing off the upkeep of the expensive parks and debts to another company whilst shuffling the management to another part of their business to make it look more profitable and make Chairman Wang a lot of money in the process. This makes me think we will see more changes as they try to reduce their debts from building so much in a short space of time.

Wanda Hotel Development, a Hong Kong-listed unit of China’s entertainment to property giant Dalian Wanda group, is to spend $1 billion to buy theme park and hotel management businesses from other parts of the group. Currently under siege, Dalian Wanda says that the moves will make Wanda Hotel an offshore “strategic platform.”
In a regulatory filing made late at night on Wednesday, Wanda Hotel Development said that it would pay $926 million (RMB6.3 billion) to Dalian Wanda chairman Wang Jianlin’s private company Wanda Culture to buy Wanda Travel. The company is mainly involved in theme park design, construction and operation management.

New patents filed by Universal Orlando for the changes around the removal of Dragon Challenge.

The permits for Universal's project dubbed "U O 942" show the theme park is seeking to work on a 7.44-acre site in the heart of its Islands of Adventure theme park. The documents say the work is for "renovating an existing area within the overall IOA site. Includes revisions to existing ponds and storm structures."
Most notably, the permit shows a map of the work area that includes nearly a quarter of the entire Islands of Adventure footprint, from the northwest corner that occupies the Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Hogsmeade and east into parts of the Lost Continent and south into the backstage parts of Jurassic Park.

That map confirms the rumors that Universal's Project 942 — which filed for a series of demolition permits with the city of Orlando in late July— is, in fact, the new "highly-themed coaster" attraction replacing the Dragon Challenge coaster at Islands of Adventure that the theme park announced last month.

UK newspapers are still featuring press releases which link them with Paramount but there is nothing new in them. No different news or updated images etc.

    From August 3rd...

We hear there have been some hurdles so far - have they been overcome?
The project hit the headlines in February when chief executive David Testa resigned after Chinese investment firm SinoFortone raised doubts over their £100m pledge.
But Humphrey Percy, group CEO of the project's parent company Kuwaiti European Holdings, said Testa's departure was "coincidental" and he has simply resigned to "go off and do other things"
Mike Morrison has been hired as the new Chief Financial Officer and in the past has held senior positions at Morgan Stanley and WestLB AG.

Anyone know anything more about Huayi Brothers Movie World? Definitely under constructions and due to open this year. Location would be useful.

Guests are surrounded by immersive environments that celebrate the hit movies, television shows, celebrities and pop culture that the Huayi Brothers are famous for. Stories are brought to life through cutting-edge technologies, spectacular shows, thrilling rides, and unique attractions.

Sectioned into five different movie-inspired areas, these highly-themed zones will combine unique “film set” locations and fully-immersive environments, allowing guests not only to learn the magic of moviemaking through the Huayi Brothers’ unique history, but also get swept up in the magic by actively playing a role themselves.

More meetings and votes this week bring it closer to reality but not without local residents opposing the plans still

GOSHEN – The proposed $500 million Legoland New York theme park cleared a key hurdle Thursday when the town Planning Board voted 5-1 to accept the project’s Final Environmental Impact Statement.
About 200 people packed Orange County’s Emergency Services Center’s auditorium for Thursday’s session, which was not a public hearing. Still, opponents booed and laughed when board members cited portions of the FEIS that said traffic would not be impacted, given Legoland’s proposed highway improvements, and water supplies would be adequate.

Walibi Belguim announced a huge overhaul for the next 4 years which will transform the park.

Starting as of next year, more than 100 million Euros will be invested in the renovation and expansion of the park, transforming 75 percent of the total premises. This includes not only the creation of new attractions but also the re-theming of existing park areas.
2018 will see the opening of a new family coaster at the park, while the Aqualibi waterpark will be expanded by the addition of a 700 square meter large water playground for young visitors. In 2019, the other park areas are planned to be re-themed, including the addition of a new interactive indoor family attraction, a coaster targeted at children as well as a restaurant. In the following year, the renovation of the park’s Western theme area is planned. The re-construction measures will culminate in the year 2021 with the opening of a thrilling major rollercoaster that will be located in an all-new theme area at the park. Construction and transformation measures at the park will be completed in 2022/23.
