Here's my review of motiongate. It's quite wordy so feel free to skip to the photos at the end.

I was lucky enough to be invited to attend a sneak preview of Motiongate in Dubai. We arrived at the main car park and were shown to a parking space by lots of parking staff.
We then boarded a bus to be taken to the entrance of Riverland. The bus took us past the almost ready Lapita hotel which looks amazing and the Six Flags theme park area.
Once dropped at the entrance of Riverland we had quite a long walk to the gates of Motiongate. It was a pleasant walk through Riverland and it was nice to see how well themed it is.
There were Christmas decorations and a massive tree.
It was also nice to see that on the other side of the water the new Irish village had finally opened its doors.

The entrance to Motiongate is huge. There was movie music playing and the atmosphere was very exciting.
Upon entering the park you are in the studio central zone. The initial view of The New York Street Backlot area is amazing.
The attention to detail and themeing blows any other park in this region away! It really does feel like walking into a world class theme park. You totally don't feel like you are in Dubai!
At the end of The street is the hub with a fountain and access to all the different lands.

Working clockwise the LionsGate zone is first. This area is still under construction and will feature the Hunger Games coaster amongst other rides.

Next is the Hollywood Theatre where Step Up All In Dubai, a hip hop dance show is currently playing.

Next up is the Dreamworks zone. This is all indoors in a massive building. It is split up into several zones including Kung Fu panda, Shrek, Madagascar and How to Train your Dragon. When we visited it was not ready however when open it will almost double the size of the existing park.
It is also climate controlled so will be amazing in the warmer months.

Working clockwise the next zone is The Smurfs. The Smurfs village has been brilliantly brought to life. As you stroll through the zone it's again hard to remember you are still in Dubai.
The Smurfs zone contains great indoor and outdoor play areas, a rollercoaster, an interactive smurf show and a major dark ride.

The show in the Smurfs Village play house was interesting. It uses animated smurfs on a screen that interact with the audience. Technically it's very clever indeed however it does feel a bit flat. This is mostly due to the degree of audience participation that is required. If, as when we were there, the audience is really interested in participating it does seem like a needlessly drawn out show. They could have done the interaction with kids in five minutes and everyone would have been just as impressed. As it was with the show being 20 minutes longs several people left during the show.

The Smurfs Studios Tour is a very good dark ride. It combines some great animatronics with a good story line and provides. Surprisingly long ride experience. Of all the rides I experienced on the preview day it was by far my favourite.
The rollercoaster was open during our visit.

The next and final zone is the Sony Picture zone. This is by far the biggest zone at the moment.
As you enter this zone you can see a very impressive and huge looking castle in the distance. This is part of the Hotel Transylvania dark ride. Again this was not open in our visit but if the facade is anything to go by it will be stunning. The forced perspective on the castle is simply stunning.
Also in this area is the green hornet coaster. Due to high winds on the day of our visit it was only open sporadically. However it looks amazing and the screams coming from it seemed to speak volumes about its popularity as did the ques later in the day.

The Ghostbusters dark ride is also in this zone. This is a ride based on the Ghostbusters films (not the new one). The outside is very impressive as is the queue line. You will pass a very good ghost containment area along with lots of original photos from the production of the movies.
The ride itself is a shooting style dark ride and mixes props with screens that have ghosts to shoot. This is a great ride and the screens work well however it does feel slightly missing something. I can't quite put my finger on it but i think it could have done with a few more animatronics to complement the screens. The ride system reminds me of Bennos great race at Ferrari World. Overall the full experience is amazing. The fact that the queue line is so well themed really draws you into the story.

Underworld 4D is also in this zone. Again the themeing and imersiveness of the queue is nothing short of stunning. The actual 4D cinema is really good too. The 3D works really well and there are some genuine scares.

Zombiland blastoff is a combination shot and drop tower which was also having issues due to the very high winds the day we visited. Again the themeing of the ride and area is amazing!

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs is a Rapids ride that looks amazing. Again this wasn't open during the preview day but it looks like a great ride.

So. My overall thoughts about Motiongate. I was expecting this to be an amazing park. I had heard some good things and seen some photos. However nothing prepared me for the real thing. The attention to detail and overall themeing is nothing short of stunning. You really don't feel like you are in Dubai. The food quality and price seems a lot better than Legoland Dubai. We are at the Hotel Beastro and despite them having issues with the ordering system the staff coped very well and were always friendly and polite.
Something that really stands out with this park is the entertainment. There are characters all around the park and entertainment around every corner. It's safe to say that Motiongate will be a massive success. They really have set the bar high.

IMG Worlds Of Adventure opening day

I was lucky enough to attend opening day at IMG worlds of adventure.

This review is quite wordy so you might want to skip to the photos at the end.

I was working there so didn't get to ride all the rides but did ride the three rollercoasters and managed to see most of the park. Therefore this review will mostly be about the rollercoasters and the general park. I will be returning to the park soon in order to ride the other rides and will post that review soon as I can.

First impressions when you enter a quite impressive. As you enter the Q area to get entry to the park on the right is the soon to be opened multiplex cinema. Once you enter through the turnstiles you are straight into IMG Boulevard. This area has several restaurants and shops and is also home to the haunted hotel attraction.

First impressions here are that it does look somewhat dark as you enter however once your eyes get accustomed to the light it actually looks fabulous. The seeming on this area is amazing and it includes the main IMG shop, coffee shops and full service restaurants.

Moving towards the bottom of IMG Boulevard on the left there is an entrance to the Cartoon Network zone and the haunted hotel. Again the theme in on the outside of the haunted hotel is unbelievable and there is great attention to detail. There is a bell boy outside beckoning people to enter. The make up and acting of this person was amazing. I can't wait to see inside.

If you take the path to the left just before the haunted hotel you like to the Cartoon Network zone. Again the theming is amazing and they have done a nice job of blending one zone into another.

In the cartoon network again features many restaurants and shops and quite a few rides. The only ride I went on here was adventure time the ride of ooo. This is a suspended monorail which goes out around the park and also features some nice dark ride sections. The right system is made by IE Park and provides a nice smooth ride. The dark right sections are based on the cartoon and it is a great way to get a view over the cartoon network zone.

A special mention has to be made for the queue line which goes up inside A tree house from the cartoon.
Also in this area is a Ben 10 5D ride, are gumball dark ride and a climbing ropes course. This is also home to the power puff girls ride. The area also features roaming characters and shows.

The next area is the last Valley. Again as you walk into this area it does initially feel a little dark however once you enter The feeling is absolutely stunning this area is home to 2 of the three rollercoasters.

Predator is a heavily themed gerstlaur Eurofighter. It features a beyond vertical drop and several inversions all amongst the highly themed dinosaur area. Also in this area is forbidden territory A large-scale dark ride that was not operating when I was there. The adventure Fortress is an amazing kids play area and the dino carousel is a very unique carousel.

The velociraptor is the other rollercoaster here. This is a blue fire clone that launches you out of the building into several inversions outside. I have not ridden blue fire however this is a truly great ride. There is a small dark ride section inside before you are launched out of the building. The only thing I would say about this ride is that the entrance is quite hard to find. Around the back of the other rides.

This whole area is dotted with animatronic dinosaurs and fantastic themeing.

The final zone is marvel zone. This has several rides including the hulk 3D experience, an avengers dark ride and the Spider-Man spinning coaster.

Again the theming of this land is stunning. The whole area is like walking into the marvel universe. The Spider-Man coaster is a really good spinner. It sends you out over the park then inside for a nicely themed inside run. It's a very good ride and is one of the best in the park.

This area has some amazingly well themed restaurants. Including Tony's sky deck a steak and seafood fine dining restaurant.

Overall I can say this is the best indoor theme park I have ever been to anywhere in the world. And certainly the biggest!
Videos and photos don't do it justice. The sheer scale is unbelievable.
All the staff are extremely helpful and friendly.

    Here some photos.

Ferrari world press release and rendering

Heres a press release from Ferrari World and a rendering of the train:

Tallest Loop and steepest inclination record breaking roller coaster
‘Flying Aces’ Set to Take-off at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is set to welcome thrill seekers from around the world onboard its record breaking roller coaster Flying Aces, acclaimed for having the world’s tallest loop and steepest starting hill inclination, during the first quarter of 2016.

The first of many surprises to be unveiled as part of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi’s expansion, Flying Aces, will take guests to speeds up to 120kmph along a 1.5km track featuring a 52 meter (170ft) tall loop and a 51 degree steep lift. The architectural masterpiece will offer extreme gravity defying flight acrobatics that include a non-inverted loop, down flips and plenty of airtime.

Commenting on the launch, Jesse Vargas, General Manager at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi said: “The groundbreaking engineering and technologies behind this bi-plane coaster will give guests the thrill of their lives. We have completed 50 per cent of the construction of Flying Aces and are simultaneously working on other rides and attractions to launch in 2016. We have made a complex roller coaster emerge under our red roof in less than a year, an amazing achievement, especially when we take into consideration that most other theme parks take approximately 3 years to deliver a similar feat.”

Due to its exceptional thrill features and strong connection to Ferrari’s heritage, the first plane themed coaster is also the first of five major rides and attractions to be launched as part of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi’s massive expansion. Already home to the world’s fastest roller coaster ‘Formula Rossa’, the bi-plane themed coaster represents the latest addition to the Park’s offering. Flying Aces brings to life the story behind Ferrari’s Cavallino logo that is inspired by Italy’s ‘ace of aces’ Count Francesco Baracca. Count Baracca was a famous Italian aviator in the 1900’s and his legendary Prancing Horse emblem was inherited by Enzo Ferrari for good luck.

In 2014, the Park revealed to the world its extraordinary expansion plans that will add more rides and attractions to appeal to guests of all ages. The innovative offerings are expected to increase the Park’s overall capacity by 40 per cent, reduce waiting time and enhancing the overall guest’s experience.

In regards to the expansion, Jesse added: “We are very proud of our expansion’s progress to date and how close we are to achieving our goal. There hasn’t been a theme park that has been adding to its offerings at the pace we are setting. The amount we have invested in our expansion is roughly the same it would cost to open a new Park. We are confident that the new rides and attractions will satisfy our guests thirst for family excitement and white knuckle thrills.”

The Park recently launched Karting Academy for guests to challenge one another in electric powered go karts, and for the little champs, an all-new Junior Training Camp has been enhanced with a soft play area and a winning mix of climbing activities. In addition, guests finally have the chance to drive the dream aboard a Ferrari California with the brand new Driving Experience, offered for the first time in a theme park.

    OK, here we go.
These are construction photos that I took 2 weeks ago. The park asked me not to post them until a local newspaper had done an exclusive.
I have waited and have not had any response from the park so here are the photos.
I will be down there again on Sunday so I will update with more then.

Here's a copy of the press release with some coaster details too.

    12 September 2015

Dubai: For the first time in the Middle East since their extinction sixty-five million years ago, dinosaurs will roam the earth at IMG Worlds of Adventure. The installation of the sixty-nine state-of the-art dinosaurs, in its Lost Valley – Dinosaur Adventure zone, marks one of the final stages of completion for the world’s largest multi-brand indoor theme park.

To ensure the most authentic interactive dinosaur entertainment experience, IMG Worlds of Adventure collaborated with Kokoro, the pioneering Japanese animatronics company, to produce the creatures of the Lost Valley – Dinosaur Adventure. Kokoro has a long history of being at the cutting edge of animatronics and robotics, creating dinosaurs for the Natural History Museum in London, as well as other prestigious collections around the world.

Within the park, guests are transported to the Prehistoric era where they can track down the dinosaurs, watch them in their natural environment, and hear them roar or feast on prey.

Among the biggest of the pack of sixty-nine dinosaurs spread across the vast Jurassic terrain will be the enormous Barosaurus and the ferocious Allosaurus. Taking up to 5 years to create and with the Barosaurus at over 15.5 metres high, the dinosaurs move, breathe and feel like their ancestors. To design each individual creature, Kokoro used hydraulics to replicate their unique movements, their scales have been hand-sculpted by specialist artists whilst a thin covering layer of silicone gives their skin a shiny, life-like appearance, similar to modern day living reptiles.

For thrill seekers, The Lost Valley – Dinosaur Adventure zone also contains “The Velociraptor”, a mega launch coaster, which will propel visitors to an exhilarating 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds. The coaster will have four inversions and will be the only permanently installed looping coaster in the UAE, with its biggest loop topping a whopping 105 feet high. Further attractions in the zone will be announced in the coming weeks, as excitement builds towards an early 2016 opening date for IMG Worlds of Adventure.

Commenting on the arrival of the dinosaurs, Lennard Otto, General Manager of IMG Worlds of Adventure, said, “This is an incredibly exciting moment for us, having witnessed the creation of these extraordinary creatures and now seeing them in their new habitat. In addition to the dinosaurs providing sheer entertainment, we will be developing a range of interactive educational programmes, positioning IMG Worlds of Adventure as one of the leading dinosaur attractions in the world.

“The arrival of the dinosaurs is also one of the final steps towards the completion of the park.”

Atsuya Yamada, President of Kokoro, said, “In Japanese, Kokoro means ‘heart’ or ‘spirit’ and we really have put our passion into creating these dinosaurs. They are based on the most up-to-date scientific knowledge of what dinosaurs would have looked like and how they would have moved in their natural environment. Visitors to IMG Worlds of Adventure will be dazzled by the experience of encountering them.”

The Lost Valley – Dinosaur Adventure zone is an original concept by IMG Theme Park L.L.C., owners of IMG Worlds of Adventure. It will be the largest of the four zones, whilst other zones include MARVEL and Cartoon Network, the first time the two brands have appeared alongside one another in a single venture. The fourth zone is IMG Boulevard, another original concept from IMG Theme Park L.L.C.
