A Japanese article is reporting that Super Nintendo World will open on July 24, 2020 but this is unconfirmed and could be a miscommunication, especially considering that July 24 is also the day that the Summer Olympics begin in Tokyo.

Today during the "SUPER NINTENDO WORLD Global Kick Off Presentation" for the media in Japan, Universal released a new music video and information to promote the upcoming area. The music video briefly shows renderings of the Mario Kart ride vehicle and overhead view of the entire area. In addition, featured in both the music video and presentation itself is the area's dedicated mobile phone app and NFC-connected wristband called the "Power Up Band":

Guests will be able to interact with different elements in Super Nintendo World, such as collecting coins, by using their "Power Up Band," which comes in multiple designs. The band is synced to the area's app.

No details were announced today regarding a specific opening date or specific details of the area's rides themselves.

The media were able to wear a "Power Up Band" and sample the area's interactivity:

Construction on the park is basically nonexistent right now and the Qingyuan Maglev rapid transit line that will have a station at the park has been significantly delayed with some parts of the system having been suspended. In a recent article reporting about the lack of progress the Qingyuan government and Chimelong Group were contacted for comment and no response was given...

This project is not completely dead but Chimelong is allocating most if not all of their resources right now to completing Chimelong Marine Science Park in Zhuhai, which is also opening much later than originally intended.

Indoor portion of SFX Coaster by Dynamic Attractions which may or may not end up being themed to "Alien vs. Predator"

As you can see, this ride is still under construction while other rides have been testing for months. Perhaps the park will open in phases with this coaster opening as part of phase two...

We finally have an official statement from Six Flags acknowledging the issues that Riverside is experiencing:

The development of the Six Flags-branded parks in China has encountered continued challenges and has not progressed as Six Flags Entertainment Corporation (the 'Company') had expected. The Company's partner in China, Riverside Investment Group ('Riverside'), continues to face severe challenges due to the macroeconomic environment and the declining real estate market in China. This has led Riverside to default on its payment obligations to the Company and, as such, the Company has delivered formal notices of default under its agreements. While the Company continues to work with Riverside and each of Riverside's governmental partners, the eventual outcome is unknown and could range from the continuation of one or more projects to the termination of all the Six Flags-branded projects in China.

This situation which has been building up throughout 2019 does not only affect Six Flags and Riverside Group but also many ride suppliers. In the future, there is potential for other Chinese developers to take over the in development parks from Riverside and rebrand them to something without Six Flags.
