New set of photos from yesterday:

    Side of Rainbow Falls' volcano

It looks this photo was taken from the street - in the center is the backside of the volcano and the brightly colored structure is part of the spinning rapids ride which goes around the volcano. To the right and behind the crane is the dolphin stadium.

These photos were taken in the Gold Coast miniland which is home to the park's kiddie rides.

On the far right is one of the two bridges that crosses the creek that divides this park into two sides and in the center is the arctic mountain. Behind the mountain and a little to the right is the indoor seal/sea lion show building.

The facade for the dark ride building is coming along very nicely

I'm not exactly sure where this rockwork is but I'm guessing that it's either for Rainbow Caverns which is the area within Rainbow Falls' volcano or this is from the dark ride's queue or ride itself.

A typhoon has just made landfall on Shanghai so hopefully it will have little to no impact on the park's construction.

Despite the signing of a new cooperation partnership two months ago, funding and legality issues persist. As shown in the above image, construction of the park has yet to begin.

The soft opening for Kingdom of Poseidon's new outdoor waterpark "Sea Monster Island" has recently begun. Photos right now are limited but here's what has been shared online so far:

It's been almost a year since the last update on this and I'm happy to share today that this project is definitely not dead, in fact, a new tender for this park was just approved for bidding this morning: http://www.bidcenter.com.cn/wtnews-54080605.html

This tender specifically is for the installation of fire protection (such as fire hydrants, a fire alarm system, and a fire sprinkler system) in buildings at the park.

New satellite imagery captured on June 22, 2018 shows that significant progress is being made on Super Nintendo World but I'm not able to identify what each structure is. I'm wondering if the dirt pile in top right will be where the rumored Donkey Kong coaster will be located? Maybe Mario Kart ride between dirt pile and parking garage? I could be totally wrong though that's all just speculation...

Biggest construction update yet! All of these photos are recent - most are from July 2018 and some are from June 2018

    Part 2

Pictured are the first ever photos of the trains for the park's flagship Intamin launched roller coaster, Steel Dolphin.

Next to the Steel Dolphin's load station is an ice cream parlor

This photo is where the flamingo exhibit and touch pools will be

This photo is of one of the kiddie rides at the Gold Coast which is a land within Rainbow Falls

This photo I believe is taken at the outdoor part of the dolphin exhibit which is connected to the indoor stadium.

In the foreground of this photo is Fire Falls coming from behind the dark ride as it turns to the right towards the Gold Coaster and the center of Rainbow Falls. Straight ahead all the way in the back is the park's other signature mountain which has an arctic, snow-covered theme.

Here is a much better view of the arctic mountain. This is the other end of the Skyway and inside the arctic mountain is the polar animal exhibits and a train, the Alpine Express, runs around the mountain.

    Bonus photos:

Biggest construction update yet! All of these photos are recent - most are from July 2018 and some are from June 2018

    Part 1

Pictured is one of Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park's flagship rides, the Steel Dolphin roller coaster. In the background is the parking garage and to the right is the on-site, ocean themed hotel. This photos was taken from the roof of the Coral Cathedral - the park's Jellyfish & Coral pavilion.

This photo shows the side of Rainbow Falls' volcano. Inside this huge structure is Rainbow Caverns, which is home to the park's whale shark exhibit and underwater viewing restaurant.

This photo is taken from the center of Rainbow Falls. Straight ahead is the front of the volcano. The Skyway goes into the left side of the volcano and to the left of that is where the the world’s longest spinning rapids ride, Fire Falls, will snake around the back of the volcano. The white slanted structure on the left is the indoor dolphin stadium. The black and green building on the right is a dark ride and between the dark ride and the volcano is the queue for Fire Falls. In the foreground where this photo was taken from is pathways, a crocodile exhibit, another park of Fire Falls, and overhead the Skyway's gondolas will be going by.

These photos show the left side of the volcano where the ramp for Fire Falls is being built.

This photo is I believe Fire Falls on the back side of the volcano

These photos I believe show the load station for Fire Falls, which is located between the volcano and the dark ride.

These photos are the inside of the dolphin stadium.

Two miscellaneous up-close photos from around Rainbow Falls:

Someone who visited the construction site the other day posted a few photos online and I'm not entirely sure but I believe these photos show the new transit station which is now beginning to rise above ground...

More interestingly though is another photo that this person shared of the layout of Universal Beijing Resort:

What's significant in this image is that I notice two very distinct changes to the design. First, the waterpark which is to the left of CityWalk now has a grey rectangle over part of it. This is speculation but I wonder if the grey rectangle is a building and so the waterpark will be partially indoors. Second, and even more significant is at the theme park itself next to Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Hogsmead was originally a large area with nothing which would be used for a future expansion. Now in this new layout something appears to be there. The location in relation to Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Hogsmead is exactly where the new roller coaster is being built at Universal's Islands of Adventure in Orlando. This is total speculation and not official, but I suspect that the new coaster coming to Islands of Adventure is also coming to Universal Studios Beijing and will be opening at the same time as everything else, not as an eventual expansion.

Yesterday morning Chimelong Ocean Kingdom held a media event for the new Hero Island area, which will potentially open at the end of this month. The event took place at the front part of the new area and it was not open to the public but guests were able to get a good view of the construction as shown in some of the photos below:

A look inside the new gift shop:

Sea Monster Island is located adjacent to the park's existing indoor waterpark. The new waterpark will feature at least two large waterslides and a huge wave pool. No images of Sea Monster Island have been released yet but check back soon for photos of the expected soft opening in the coming days.
