On May 22 a new construction milestone was reached for the upcoming metro station that will lead into CityWalk! The main structure of the station has been completed. I could be incorrect but based on photos it seems that "main structure" means the underground part of the station is done but the outdoor part including the rolling canopy shown in concept art is what's not complete. The metro station will begin operation at some point next year.

Concept art of the metro station (scroll down to older posts for additional concept art):

This thread is for the Mayan-focused Amikoo Resort Destination Theme Park on Mexico’s Mayan Riviera (between Cancun and Playa del Carmen).

The Amikoo complex will combine a top-quality museum, resort, and themed attractions with a culturally respectful presentation of Mayan culture in an environmentally sustainable manner. To this end, 85 of the project’s 120 acres will be preserved in their current natural state.
Phase One of the Amikoo project will include the Amikoo Theme Park with 24 attractions, along with restaurants and shows.
The park will also be home to the Maya Anthropology and Archeology Museum, and Amikoo Downtown with 340 hotel rooms, shops, entertainment, and restaurants. Among the property’s attractions will be “Mares de Mexico” (a submarine scientific expedition simulator), a “Fly Over Mexico” flying theater, and “Amikoo Surf Spot” (a combined wave pool and artificial beach).
Phase Two will include 1,000+ more hotel rooms, plus the Maya Discovery interactive historical exhibition, Maya Extreme (home of the five sacred Maya trees), Maya Adventure (an ancient Mayan city), and Amikoo Land (home of the park’s Amikoo Family characters).

[The waterpark] will not be completed until “November next year at the earliest”, according to a source familiar with the situation.

In addition, Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel, a luxurious 471-room hotel, will not be ready to receive its first guest until the third quarter of this year, another source said. This means a delay of “at least three months” from its original scheduled opening date of June 13.

First photos of dolphin interactions taking place at Dolphin Cay which has still yet to officially open. The photos are from a little over a week ago. Pictured are three of the resort's six bottlenose dolphins (they also have four pacific white sided dolphins). Note that construction is taking place on Dolphin Cay Theatre, which is pictured in the background.

Universal Parks & Resorts and its Chinese partners are expanding plans for a 300-acre theme park in Beijing, doubling their investment to $6.5 billion on heightened optimism about the booming Chinese theme-park market, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The investment would surpass that of Walt Disney Co.’s Shanghai Disney Resort, which at the time of its 2016 launch cost more than $5.5 billion, and would be the most ever spent on a theme park at the time of opening, according to industry experts.
Universal now expects the Beijing park to draw 10 million visitors in its first year, up from an initial projection of 7 million, the person said.
The increased investment will go toward expanding retail and entertainment space, improving planned attractions and building new lands including one based on the Harry Potter books and films, the person said. The park will also have attractions based on the Transformers, Minions and Kung Fu Panda film franchises, which have strong followings in China, a second person said.
Although design work has begun and land has been cleared, major construction hasn’t yet started but is expected to begin this year, people familiar with the matter said. At the time of the 2014 announcement, only a preliminary agreement was in place between the partners, the first person said. The joint venture was established in 2017, after more than three years of talks, that person said, adding to delays.

The park’s launch has been further hindered by struggles to hire and retain talent, according to comments made by Universal executives at an industry panel in Beijing last month, according to a person who attended.

The executives said employee turnover in Beijing was about 35%, the person said. Critical roles such as art direction, engineering, design, procurement and architecture have been a challenge to fill, people familiar with the matter said.

BREAKING: SeaWorld's first park in China has been officially announced! On May 1st, Zhonghong Co., Ltd. announced that on April 27 the company had signed the "SeaWorld Theme Park License Agreement" with its subsidiary Hainan Ruyi Island Tourism Resort Investment Co., Ltd. The agreement authorizes it to develop and operate the SeaWorld theme park on Ruyi Island.

Ruyi Island Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zhonghong. Zhonghong Holding Co Ltd. won the competitive bidding for the Ruyi Island tourism project almost six years ago. Ruyi Island is an artificial island currently under construction off the coast of Haikou, a city on Hainan Island in China. A bridge has been built to connect Ruyi Island to Haikou. The shape of the entire artificial island is of the “Ruyi,” which according to Wikipedia is "a curved decorative object that serves as a ceremonial scepter in Chinese Buddhism or a talisman symbolizing power and good fortune in Chinese folklore." Ruyi Island is divided into three phases. Each phase is first reclaimed into islands and then the corresponding tourist resorts are developed on the formed artificial islands. Similarly to the nearby Ocean Flower Island, earlier this year the government suspended the development of Ruyi Island due to environmental concerns but construction has since resumed.

According to Zhonghong, "Ruyi Island brings together the valuable coastal and riverside resources in Haikou, the original natural features and the ecological advantages of zero industrial pollution, and is very suitable for the development, construction, and operation of a SeaWorld theme park. At present, the construction of the first-phase of reclamation project of Ruyi Island has been accepted and qualified, and it is currently in the stage of applying for a real estate certificate reversion to the land management department; the second-phase completed sea area is applying for acceptance inspection."

Below is concept art for Ruyi Island that had been released prior to this announcement. Though some of the concept shows a theme park and waterpark, it does not necessarily represent an accurate design of this new SeaWorld park:

Photo of Ruyi Island from June 2017:

SeaWorld will be located on the left side of the island in the orange area:

New information and concept art has been released for Chimelong Ocean Kingdom's upcoming new themed land called "Hero Island." Hero Island's storyline picks up where the 5D theater's movie ends. After defeating the villains, the movie's three main characters, teenage tigers Kaka and Kiki, and the Ocean Genie, a magical young whale shark pixie, fly away on a parrot over the audience. Now, Kaka and Kiki have returned from victory and landed on Hero Island, and guests can follow along and help Kaka and Kiki defeat monsters. Checkpoints will be located throughout Hero Island where guests will be able to earn a "Heroes Passport."
