How far behind is Holywood Studios Galaxys Edge?

When I last made an estimate a year ago, it looked like they were about 4 months apart. Does anyone have any good estimates of how far apart they are now?

Lot of decent close-up shots in this one.

It does seem to me that the design is different, possibly due to the high water table in Florida. The supercollider is certainly being built differently. Looks more like a octagon at its base in DHS, where it was a cylinder all the way down in DL. I still question if the lands will be the same size. I think we may have to wait till we get some final definition to the actual borders and all building outlines to know for sure.

Google Earth has a recent enough aerial of DL to get a measurement of the show building, about 2.1 acres.

There are enough landmarks to measure if for DHS. These are rough measurements but they come out to about the same size.

Considering we used to think of HS as being 6 months behind, they have made up half that time. And considering the 2019 opening, I think it is quite plausible that they will be caught up sometime in 2018.
If HS goes just 5 days faster per month than DL, they will be caught up by the end of 2018. And considering the marketing coup it would be for Disney to advertise for both openings at once, a dual opening would seem like something Disney would try to do.

Possibly they might retheme Star Tours to some sort of "Muppet Vision 4D"? My guess is that Star Tours will be rethemed but not destroyed. The greater question in my opinion is: what will become of the Star Wars launch bay? Hopefully "Animation Courtyard" continues to be themed accordingly.
I think the key fact here is the nature of the new Star Wars Land being an immersive, real time place. It will not be able to have Darth Vader and Han Solo, or events from the original trilogy (which ALL SW fans do and will want), it will not be able to have an attraction or meet and greet with characters and events from the beloved original trilogy, with a very few exceptions like Chewie or the droids. Everything Star Tours currently does would not fit the theme of Star Wars Land. So I think it will have to stay, and will not be out of place, but a welcome place to have characters and themes that CANNOT be explored in SW land. And I think an Indie attraction could and should replace the current one, but it is a massive area, and there would be room for it as is without butting into Star Tours. I think a volcano mine train ride would be the way to go, themed similar to Disneyland's Indie attraction but on steroids. Muppets Courtyard will surely stay as is, because as I mentioned, Star Tours and SW Land are so very different, it will seem natural that there be a physical barrier between them.

One is about a movie, the other IS a movie guests are participating in. Quite different really.

In early February, DLR Battle Escape was about where things are at in DHS right now. There was a flurry of activity within a couple week period. The supercollider had its wooden molds up sometime between Jan. 28th and Feb 4th, with the first hint of vertical structure on the end of the building seen on Feb 9th. out http://www.themeparx.com/star-wars-land-disneyland/?page=9

To me it is clear in comparing this picture with the Jan. 28th DLR pic, that the rounded area is indeed the beginnings of the "supercollider". The placement looks almost exact. I think it will become clear within the next week when the molds are in place. Perhaps there are separate crews for each end and one happened to get ahead of the other in DHS compared with DLR. Or perhaps with the tightness of the roadway between the potential supercollider and muppets they will wait longer to get going on it. Either way I think it is clear when you compare the images that it is already roughed in.

Very interesting that Orlando seems to less than 4 months behind Anaheim now (comparing when they each went vertical on Battle Escape). It used to look like 6+ months. I hope they keep catching up!

"Overlay of Disneyland so far for comparison? i'm sure the layouts are the same..."

I've been working on this in Google earth, mainly for a size comparison, but it should be good for layout comparison too. Will post when I get it done.
