  1. I doubt most of us are surprised that this is being delayed. If I were a betting person, I would bet that the Nov and Dec dates are missed as well.

My thinking is a large portion will open in January and ongoing work will continue through 2017 on motiongate and Bollywood. Maybe by Holiday 2018 they will be fully complete.

  2. Don't book a flight until all three parks are open and all rides are functioning properly.

  3. I would be worried on their share prices on Monday

But DPR CEO quote sounds very familiar

Here is a quote from the CEO of IMG Worlds:

“You have got one chance to open the park and we wanted that experience to be perfect because the expectation is very high, the market is very competitive and we want the day of opening to put us on the global map as a theme park operator.”

And this is the quote from DPR CEO:

“We are focused on delivering a destination which exceeds international standards on every level – from guest experience to state-of-the-art rides and attractions and the highest of safety standards – and we want to make sure we take the time to get everything just right and launch a destination the UAE and our shareholders can be truly proud of."

Also when they say not all the attraction will be open... Does that mean I am paying 285aed to watch them build their rides?

  4. It may "open".... but a lot of the sections and/or rides wont be "ready". Big difference. Most people are hopeful but from their press releases, be realistic.

  5. Yet, we're not talking of 2 or 3 years delays like IMG Worlds of Adventure, but 2 weeks (for two of the parks and the hotel) and 90 days for the bigger one... and as you said, one of the parks and the entertainment zones will be opened on day 1.

  6. I'm not sure they can't follow a plan, it's more that they are a bit too ambitious to begin with. They built this thing in what, two years?
If the plan is too ambitious to be followed, then it's not a plan. You have to keep your goals realistic and above all, not announce any release dates.

(By the way: I don't wonder why LEGOLAND is the only one to open. Merlin has a fully-proven concept and knows how to design parks in very ambitious time frames by a heavy reuse of concepts and rides. DPR can be happy to have this. Otherwise, the 31st would be a disaster.)

  7. Here is the press release :

DUBAI, UAE –29 September, 2016: Dubai Parks and Resorts, the region’s largest integrated theme park destination, announced today that it will now open on 31st October with LEGOLAND® Dubai and Riverland™ Dubai, the retail dining and entertainment district.

Bollywood Parks™ Dubai, LEGOLAND® Water Park and the Lapita™ Hotel will open to the public on 15th November while MOTIONGATE™ Dubai will premiere on 16th December.

Daily tickets for LEGOLAND® Dubai will be on sale starting October 4th at www.dubaiparksandresorts.com and www.legoland.ae, while Bollywood Parks™ Dubai, LEGOLAND® Water Park, and MOTIONGATE™ Dubai daily tickets will be available for purchase closer to the parks’ opening dates.

Riverland™ Dubai offers over 50 themed retail, dining, and entertainment experiences set across a waterfront district which is free for all to enjoy.

Raed Kajoor Al Nuaimi, CEO of DXB Entertainments PJSC, the owner of Dubai Parks and Resorts, said: “Building the Middle East’s largest integrated theme park destination in three years has been an incredible experience. With over 100 rides and attractions spread across 25 million square feet of land, Dubai Parks and Resorts will now open on the 31st October and will premiere LEGOLAND® Dubai and Riverland™ Dubai first, followed closely by Bollywood Parks™ Dubai, MOTIONGATE™ Dubai, LEGOLAND® Water Park and the Lapita™ Hotel.

“We are focused on delivering a destination which exceeds international standards on every level – from guest experience to state-of-the-art rides and attractions and the highest of safety standards – and we want to make sure we take the time to get everything just right and launch a destination the UAE and our shareholders can be truly proud of. We cannot wait to show our guests everything Dubai Parks and Resorts has to offer from 31st October this year.”

What is the source of this quote please? I'm interested to see it as this is the first I have heard of it and cannot find any information on the official website or press releases.

  10. It will open on Oct 31, no doubt about it. Marketing is in full swing, reservations are open for the hotel, tickets are on sale, communication is ongoing, including interviews from leaders with no mention of a delay whatsoever.
Not really true. DPX has declared a delay for most parks already:

"Dubai Parks and Resorts, the region’s largest integrated theme park destination, announced today that it will now open on 31st October with LEGOLAND® Dubai and Riverland™ Dubai, the retail dining and entertainment district. I feel lucky that I haven't booked my flight yet or I would be really angry now. Such delay notice on such a short term. While I love what Dubai is trying to built up, I definitively cannot comprehend their lack of capabilities to plan on schedule (probably that's because I'm German and delays of this type is terrible to me).
