  1. Just an FYI, was just in the resort this week. Towers look about 2/3 to 3/4 complete for the concrete skeleton, obviously none of the interior work or exterior skin done yet, seem to be slowing down, which makes sense as no point the hotels being done long before the park and sitting empty. No other structures visible from the ground. I assume pretty much accepted any 2018 opening is off the table. People fairly high up in the resort are still saying 2019, but no actual date or "what" actually will open were revealed. We did pick up some of the VIP passes for the park, so hope it continues to move forward, sooner rather than later. Sorry, only one not great photo, taken from roof pool of one of the new Lux Towers. Not all that close to the hotel structures, but gives an idea of what is going on.

  2. I live in Puerto Vallarta, and have seen that the construction goes pretty fast, right now, you can see the towers for the hotels are almost finished. Regarding the rest, it not visible from the street

Can you please provide a source for the claim about Feb. 2019. If so, this would be a significant delay from year end 2018 as Vidanta/CDS would miss the Christmas, New Years high season.
Anyone else hear anything about the next phases of the park? Two more AFTER Cirque du Soleil with separate concepts.

  4. In the latest news, the water park and the Kingdom of the Sun is supposed to open in February 2019 and the last phase (Village of the Moon) will open six months after.

I am told that Vidanta is tripling the size of the overall theme park on their Nuevo Vallarta property. The Cirque theme park remains on track to have phase I (although the Cirque theme park itself will have 2 or 3 phases) and then phase II and III will have a water park. An additional theme park is currently in the earliest stages of development. They said the owner of Vidanta is working directly with the retired head designer from Disney to create this new concept as well as the original founder of Cirque du Soleil and his new entertainment company. Anyone else can confirm this?

  6. I saw Gary Goddard talk about Cirque du Soleil park recently and has said two interesting things:

    1. They will have a boat ride which he described as a mix of Jungle Cruise, Navi River Journey and a Cirque show with live performers in the ride space. they will have animal puppets which will allow the "animals" to get very close to the people in the boats and people will be able to "feed" the animals using new technology they are developing for the puppets.

    2. Everyone in the parks will be a character including all the bartenders, retail assistants, gate attendants etc. They will all have characters and be a part of the overall universe.

2020 opening has been confirmed by Goddard Group but I'm not sure if this means both phases 1 and 2 will be completed by 2020 or just phase 1

  8. Did you take pictures on your hard hat underground tunnel tour? Can you post here?

  9. The park was originally scheduled to open in November 2018. Phase 1 is NOT the water park but in fact the Kingdom of the Sun. My source is my Vidanta Grand Luxxe "Celebrate" contract in which I own 3 weeks annually in the Grand Luxxe in Nuevo Vallarta and 5 weeks in even years in the Grand Cascades resort in the theme park. The contract gives a specific date in November of 2018 and even stipulates that if the park does not open by that date Vidanta has breached our contract and we can cancel our ownership and receive every penny of our money back.

I would expect that they will try to avoid the refunds and re-negotiations with all of the "Celebrate" contract holders. There are a lot of us and it will create a lot of work and headaches for them. The water park section is expected to be open in mid 2019 with the Kingdom of the Moon shortly behind it in 2020.

If you look in the arial views the Kingdom of the Sun section is clearly far more advanced than the water park section. The Kingdom of the Moon section is mostly untouched. Even the area with the golf course hasn't been dug up yet.

We took a hard hat tour of the underground tunnels back in October of 2016. It was really cool and massive! I'm sure they are trying for Nov 2018 but it would not surprise me if it runs over. They have to get licensed before they can open and corners won't be cut in that process.

  10. What are the sources for the dates? 2020,2019 or 2018.. Phase 1 I thought was the Waterpark and with all the theming, are you sure that that would happen before end 2018?
