Earlier this month, Chimelong successfully completed the concrete pouring of their upcoming killer whale exhibit's main pool. The main pool, which is pictured in this post, is 100 meters long and 30 meters wide and its design is described as appearing "similar to the shape of a big fish."

EXCLUSIVE: I’m proud to share my favorite construction photos yet - new, up-close photos from the construction site of Chimelong’s new indoor marine park that’s across the street from Chimelong Ocean Kingdom. This 360,000 square meter complex, which is costing over half a billion US dollars to build, will be home to Chimelong’s killer whales.

The project's environmental impact report from June 2017 states a fourth quarter 2018 completion date. Despite construction progressing rapidly, expect the completion date to be pushed back to 2019 or potentially even 2020.

Earlier this month China Construction Third Bureau First Engineering Co. Ltd. won the bid at the cost of 3.2 billion yuan for Chimelong Zhuhai's indoor marine park project. According to the construction company, the project's total construction area is about 360,000 square meters and the height of the complex will be about 60 meters. Details about what this project will entail are minimal but according to the source the main show stadium (for the killer whale show) will have 5,000 seats. In comparison, Shamu Stadium at SeaWorld Orlando is 6000 seats. Also, the main aquarium tank will feature the world's largest acrylic glass panel which will be 46.2 meters wide and 8.2 metres high. Across the street at Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, their record breaking whale shark aquarium's acrylic glass panel is 39.6 meters wide and 8.3 metres high.
